With a name like the Old Homestead, you are almost certain that this restaurant praises the bovine from top to bottom. The Old Homestead Steak House first opened in 1868 and it remains a straightforward, old-fashioned steakhouse without sacrificing any of the modern amenities. In this sense, thankfully, it is no longer that difficult to get Kobe beef from Japan, which probably wasn't on the menu in 1868. Most of the dishes are priced in the higher range, but are well worth your money.

We come here every year for our anniversary. We go into the city and spend the day and then have dinner here. Always delicious and worth it! Everyone is pleasant, professional and accommodating. We usually get a little cake or something on the house, but we didn't this year.
The steak was mediocre at best (we ordered most expensive steak they had 40 day aged on bone)... for the price delfrisco or quality meats would be a better choice any day. The waiter was rude and abrupt (even by NYC standards, more abrupt than staff at Peter Lugers). Two stars because I liked the appetizers (slab bacon and calmari) and love the company... otherwise would not go back
