The real estate business has good landlords and not-so-good landlords. However, Oak City Properties, a property management company, is an outlier. The very day I moved in, I had an infestation of cockroaches in my ~$1400/month apartment in Raleigh. They were all over my kitchen, even though I had not yet gone grocery shopping! My wife and I engaged Oak City Properties about a three years ago after we got married and needed to rent out her townhouse. WARNING: Please beware of renting property from Oak City Properties! Take copious pictures and videos of every square inch of the property before you sign a lease with them. My experience with Oak City Properties has been dismal to say the least. First of all from what several neighbors told us the old tenants left a dog unattended for several weeks upon move-out, and it was a HAZMAT type of situation. They said everything was removed from the unit, floors, carpets, etc. Upon move-in there were new carpets, but the... read more

My husband and I are very clean, low-maintance, professional tenants. We have rented for 4 years now, and have never one had an issue with a rental agency. This one is by far the worst in terms of communication.
