Come enjoy her beauty and dream of her rich past . . . Located on the Mississippi River between the historic Louisiana cities of New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Oak Alley Plantation has been called the "Grande Dame of the Great River Road". Nowhere else in the south will you find such a spectacular setting! The quarter-mile canopy of giant live oak trees, believed to be nearly 300 years old, forms an impressive avenue leading to the classic Greek-revival style antebellum home. For visitors, we have a full service breakfast and ... read more

We went to Oak Alley on 3/14/16 when we vacationed in New Orleans. This was one of THE best things we saw on our week-long trip. Oak Alley is beautiful and something you must visit. We took a tour of the house and our guide was Lacey. I need to say she was absolutely SPECTACULAR!! She is by far the BEST tour guide we had while on vacation. You can see the passion she has in educating you about the home and the plantation and those who lived there. She is so knowledgeable and presents in a wonderful fashion. My 9 year old son... read more
This was the most amazing experience of my life! Oak Alley exceeded my expectations above and beyond. It was on my bucket list to visit and today I got to check that off! We got there at 9--30 minutes before the first tour started-- and got several pictures in front of the home with absolutely no other people in them. Our tour guide Lacey was so knowledgeable and kind! I cried tears of joy upon arriving there today! We even came back and sat outside the gates on the levee and watched the sun go down over Oak Alley! It was ma... read more
Oak Alley is a dream place. I waited 20 years to get there and it was everything I expected and more. Shared it with the love of my life. And the bread pudding and mint juleps were great. Thank you for the memories. Will be back.
The plantation is very beautiful and well kept. Yes it is a sad part of our history , but it is history.
My wife (Brenda) and I visited this past November. I've always wanted to visit because of the front view and the wife wanted to visit Louisiana because its heritage is just so much different from the rest of the country. When the opportunity came, we stayed a week. The house and grounds are beautiful, the staff kind and courteous, the food and store were great. Plus we felt safer here than in any hotel. And the best part, we used the plantation as our starting point to visit other areas in the state. We also visited a couple... read more
We had called the plantation in advance to make sure that it would be open and that we could receive a full tour as we arrived there at 4:15 p.m. They told us over the phone that it wouldn't be a problem. We arrived and paid and were there in time for the 4:30 tour. The tour guide told us to be sure and see the slavery exhibits and that they would be open until almost dark. We left the tour immediately and went to see the slave quarters and everyone of those buildings were locked up! We went to the front office and the gal a... read more
As an African-American I didn't appreciate the way slavery was glossed over in place of the saccarine- filled stories of the slave owners. Slavery wasn't cute! Go to the Whitney Plantation for a more realistic, historical view of that era.
What type of horrible place celebrates the brutality of slavery in such a way......this is disgusting. It is not different that someone having a party at Auswitz and saying "Hey we're having pizza made in the same oven that the Jews were killed in, this is so cool".....slaves were killed here, for nothing more than looking the wrong way and yet you have parties on this land. I cannot believe people are so disgusting! This plantation should be open only for the learning of slavery and the BRUTALITY of it nothing more and noth... read more
Had my wedding reception here back in the 90's thanks to a great father in-law. This is as good as it gets! The food was awesome and we had full run of the house for the evening.
