About this business

Come enjoy her beauty and dream of her rich past . . . Located on the Mississippi River between the historic Louisiana cities of New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Oak Alley Plantation has been called the "Grande Dame of the Great River Road". Nowhere else in the south will you find such a spectacular setting! The quarter-mile canopy of giant live oak trees, believed to be nearly 300 years old, forms an impressive avenue leading to the classic Greek-revival style antebellum home. We are so happy that we took time out of our New Orleans trip to tour this beautiful plantation. :)

We loved our trip to the Oak Alley Plantation. They sell mint juleps in the main house that you can sip on as you tour. The house and grounds are gorgeous, and the restaurant on site serves a delicious lunch. We did not go to this site on an official tour. We drove here ourselves, a quick drive, and paid $20ish per person for admission. The admission ticket includes a tour of the big house and a tour of the slave quarters. Beautiful place to visit. Great history presentation. The Virginia oak trees are stunning as is the house. So enjoyed our guide, Lacey’s, presentation in the plantation house.

My wife and I visited in 2013. We spent the night in the common guesthouse and toured in the morning. Wonderful tour guide, beautiful house and grounds and great food! I also am a Friend of Oak Alley and it’s a great opportunity to keep the preservation up of this wonderful place

Startling beauty! Great combination of history and old fashion service We stayed in the cabins over night Thanksgiving 2017. The park was not open, neither were area restaurants, but the Piggly Wiggly grocery store, only 7 miles away, had limited hours, if you forgot your cranberry sauce. Sounds of river traffic and the sweet smokey smell of distant burning sugar cane fields enhanced our walk through gentle strobes of sun light through ancient Live Oak trees.
