It's worth the wait! – I've never posted a restaurant review in my life, but I was so moved by my experience at Nuestra Cocina that I wanted to share it with others. It was just before 6pm on Friday evening. We drove in from out-of-town looking for a place to eat before heading over to the Aladdin Theatre to see some great bluesmen perform. Awesome! – First and foremost, this restaurant offers an incredible cocktail -- the serrano lime drop. Sweet, spicy, beautiful! The food is definitely stellar. The lamb entree is spectacular, and the rockfish special I had was also really good. The ceviche is great, of course, and the service is friendly. Ambience is a touch claustrophobic, but I'm really looking forward to eating on their patio once it warms up. I really like this place! I recommend it without a doubt.
Hands down my favorite Portland restaurant! – It's official...Nuestra Cocina is my favorite Portland restaurant. I've been eating there since it opened and it has never failed...never waned. Whether you like Mexican food or not, you will like this restaurant. Anything and everything on the menu is superb. OMG How can this place get any better? – Back again on Saturday to one of our favorite restaurants in the city. We knew to come early so we could get seated right away. Service was incredibly good. Our waiter provided excellent descriptions of the daily specials, and gave us enthusiastic recommendations from the drink menu. great service – We went to Nuestra Cocina tonight and were greeted by a smiling hostess who asked how our night was and sat us right away. It was not very busy at 6 pm so we were lucky to get in and out in no time. The food was nothing short of impressive. I would recommend this place to all my friends.
Good food but iffy service – The food was great but I was somewhat surprised at the service. The hostess did not seem pleased to see a couple of people in jeans and rain jackets. She didn't smile at all and helped a couple who looked more affluent and who came in behind us before us. The bartender was nice and super helpful. We left after the first drink because after the hostess didn't seem terribly pleased about seating us...
Enjoyable experience and try the salpicon! – The food was excellent and the ambience was relaxed. The servers and the bartender were really personable. I had chicken with anchiote and salpicon. It was a taste sensation! The flavors were interesting and they blended perfectly. I recommend this place to anyone!
It's good but slightly overated – It's good but I don't quite get all the 5 stars. Maybe someone is doing the owner a favor? It's authentic and has pretty good flavors but I've had much better. However, Oregon isn't really known for their "authentic mexican food" so I can see why everyone thinks it's so good. It's also overpriced. Exceeded Our High Expectations – From the time we were ushed to the bar, to the time we were wished a great evening, we were thrilled with our experience at Nuestra Cocina.
