North Torrance Optometry has been serving our patients' eye care needs since 1986 when Dr. Tak Shimazaki opened his second office in Torrance. Dr. Mayeda came on staff that same year, spending his time at the Hawthorne office until both were consolidated into this current location in the late 90's. In 2005, Dr. Chad Shimazaki began practicing and seven years later, purchased the practice from his father.

From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by a warm staff and a clean & modern environment. Dr. Shimazaki is knowledgeable, friendly, and patient to explain the "what", 'how', and "why" every step of the way. I have been to a few optometrists and everytime it's the same thing, you look through the lens and they say, "A or B, A or B, 1 or 2." Dr. Shimazaki went way above and beyond. First of all, he is always dressed like a professional and acts accordingly. Secondly, I have never been to an office that had the up-to-date hi-tech equipment he had. And, most importantly, he never makes me feel like I'm anything less than his #1 priority. I will be his patient for life
