One of the most polarizing music venues in the city. I'm personally not the biggest fan of this place, and don't really see the charm. However, many love it to death and yank me to go here. I never do.
heard such good things... – Went here for dinner tonight with two friends of mine because we couldn't think of anything to do for dinner and had heard great things about the north star bar. Got a lot of funny looks as we walked in and our waitress treated us like we weren't cool or hipster enough to be eating there. Wouldn't recommend anything on the menu that wasn't vegetarian because she doesn't eat meat, even when we asked which were the popular choices. She also wouldn't serve my friend a beer with us because she didn't ... read more
I adore you North Star! – I love this venue! I go to the North Star all the time, it's truly a staple in my favorite rock n roll memories. I've been there for Mudhoney, to DickDale, to Say Anything, Street Dogs and White Stripes. They have honestly grabbed a hold of the rock n roll scene over the past 8 years or so and I hope they don't let go! I'm not going to lie, I like the bar food too. I am a nut for the veggie burger and their homemade fries are amazing! I read a review below about some band member complaining that the... read more
AVOID – WE HAD A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT, BUT WHEN WE TRIED TO EXPLAIN IT ON THIS WEBSITE, IT WOULD NOT ALLOW ANY NEGATIVE WORDS. HOPEFULLY THIS WILL WORK. BASICALLY THE MANAGERIAL STAFF WAS DISRESPECTFUL TO BAND MEMBERS WHO WERE SCHEDULED TO PLAY THAT NIGHT. A BAND MEMBER WAS NOT ALLOWED TO RE-ENTER THE BAR BECAUSE HE WAS SMOKING TOO CLOSE TO THE FRONT DOOR. MANY PEOPLE LOST MONEY ON COVER CHARGE AND DRINKS. NEITHER OF WHICH WERE REFUNDED WHEN THE BAND WAS NOT ALLOWED TO RE-ENTER THE BAR. DO NOT PATRONIZE ... read more
Employees = douchebags – I just wanted to say that my band recently opened at the Northstar and we were all extremely excited about playing here. UNFORTUNATLEY, from the moment we came in, EVERY single person that worked there was a complete DOUCHEBAG to us for absolutley no reason. The bouncer was a fat piece of sh*t who wouldnt leave us alone and all we wanted to do was play some music and have a couple brews. Unless im gettin paid alot of money i dont plan to come to this place again
..ooooooh I love this baaar! – Sing it with me! no. seriously. go. Great music. I've never had the food so, to remark, would be inaccurate. The people are friendly regardless of creed or nation. All around great place to go. Enjoy.
Editorial Review – Live music shows, weekly DJ's and pool, bring your friends to the North Star Bar in Philadelphia.
Ernie's Bar – The bar has a rotating selection of imports and microbrews as well as a decent liquor selection. The musical acts are varied and many times the bar music is good as it is supplied by the bartenders. The atmosphere is not trendy but certainly more chic than the khyber. All in all, the bar does a great job of trying to be all things at once. That is, corner bar, music venue, and trendy hangout.
A very bright star – the NSB is the best music venue in the city right now. It offers a very intimate setting, great sound system, and affordable beer.
North Star Bar has a 3.8 star rating with 51 reviews.
North Star Bar is closed now. It will open at 9:00 a.m.
