The New Deck Tavern has been nestled on historical Sansom Street in University City, Philadelphia since 1986. Our restaurant and tavern is located in three renovated second empire style row houses built in the late 1800's. The block was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. Back in 04, my friend and I stumbled upon this place on vacation in the midst of a brutal hangover. Their potato soup is still the best I've had to this day!!!! I still dream about it. And if I ever find myself back in the area.... this cook will gladly fill his belly with their beers and amazing food.
Had a great time and the staff was accommodating and friendly. Special thanks to Ashleigh, John, & MJ who put up with us!
Pros: nice environment, friendly staff, strawberry salad and chicken wrap was good. Cons: hamburger was a frozen patty - little disappointed and the mozzarella sticks weren't not fully cooked. Overall would not likely to go back as there are many other good places in city -
Business response:
Hi Tara, Thank you for taking time to review us as we take these very seriously.... our burger patties are fresh, never frozen, so we will have to look into why yours seemed cold .. I'm glad you enjoyed our strawberry salad and chicken wrap and hope you visit us again soon. Thank you.
Stopped in for afternoon drinks with local friends. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, surprisingly cheap drink prices. Good Blue coat martini! Apps were tasty and filling - expected bar food quality. Cheesesteak egg rolls are intriguong, but needed more cheese (or other moisture). Had a great time and would return if ever in the Penn area.
One of my favorite places to eat. My husband and I drive almost 2 hours to have New Deck. The atmosphere is great, staff is friendly, and the food is amazing. I highly recommend the cheesesteak and baked potato soup. Plus the endless choices in beer
