We had a wonderful experience on 8 East during my 18 year old daughters surgery. The Nurses, PCA, Transport and even the cleaning people were extremely pleasant and helpful. On the day of her surgery my daughter was 18 for 27 days...and an "adult" according to hospital administration. I believe a person is considered pediatric until 21. Anyway, I was not permitted to stay with my "adult" daughter during her 3 night stay at Mt. Sinai. I have been a patient at Mt. Sinai Hospital since I was 14yrs old. My doctor recently retired & since he took care of my family for decades I was going to leave Mt. Sinai. He wouldn't be there & my mother has since passed away.
