Had a great day! we did the behind the scenes tour. Brad was a fantastic tour guide. thanks!!
My friend and I did the whole house tour which cost extra but was definitely worth it. I want to give a shout out to our tour guide, Andrew Miles. He did an amazing job and answered all of our questions. If I compared this to Mount Vernon I would pick Monticello again in a heart beat. Everything about it was fantastic. Hearing about Thomas Jefferson, and seeing all the amazing inventions and rooms of his family was just out of this world fantastic. If you get a chance, go. The mountains are breath taking.
Beautiful and fascinating, humbling and horrific!
Monticello was my view from by bedroom window for 22 years. That is a wonderful view to wake up to. I think we went every year as a field trip when I was in school, I then escorted both of my children's classes when they went to. The day the Man was being sentenced for Murdering my brother, I was a crying mess, thinking we were going to the Court House my husband took a left instead and took me to my favorite place Monticello!
I Came to See Monticello and to hear about its Owner! To my Surprise I was met with a Showcase of Sally Hemings! Not to mention an onslaught of negativity about Mr. Jefferson! For The Few Believers in Mr. Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Franklin etc. This Tour will be a waste Of time!
The guide on the Slavery Tour was excellent. Could have listened to his interpretations all day long. Great historical presentation. I would come back just to take this tour.
We loved our tour. Our tour guide was nice, excited and knowledgeable. We were bummed we can't see the 2nd floor, but I will be sure to look at the virtual tour online that our guide told us about. We loved it. It humanized Jefferson for our 11 year old, so that when we got to DC, we weren't just showing our son a document and some statues. When given the chance to spend his own money on a souvenir at the archives, he bought a copy of the Declaration of Independence and he cherishes it. Mission accomplished Monticello! My visit - the first since 1992 - was a wonderful experience. Because my family and I were on the road back to Ohio from Virginia Beach, we could only stay for roughly 2 1/2 hours. I could have easily stayed for 4; taking in all of the tours and exhibits, and walking the grounds. The visitor center was clean and accessible. The gift shop was nice, and there was a little cafe that I didn't visit, but looked lovely. Parking is plentiful and is incorporated well among the hills...Continue Reading
