Amazing!!!!! We enjoyed our visit to Monticello very much. We took the “grand tour” and got to go upstairs and enjoy more history. The grounds are gorgeous. It is so good to see how our forefathers lives. God bless America
We were there yesterday. It was a beautiful day. Our tour was conducted by Ed at 4:30. He was wonderful. He was enthusiastic, informative, and kind. We wish we had been able to get there earlier so we would have had more time on the grounds. There was no one at the Sally Hemings exhibit by the time we finished. Hope to be able to visit again. Thanks to Ed for a great tour!
A wonderful tour. You can almost feel the history come alive! You really get a good glimpse into the life of Thomas Jefferson. The grounds are beautiful, especially in the spring when the tulips and all the spring bulbs and trees are in bloom. Its so easy to spend a day here just walking around and taking in the sights! The views into the county below are beautiful!
My 10 year old daughter is very interested in Virginia history this year, so we planned a day trip yesterday and we absolutely loved it! The grounds were very well kept, flowers were absolutely beautiful. I really wish I knew our tour guides name, because he was incredible and we were... read more
A nice way to spend an afternoon. I was disappointed that so much emphasis was placed on his role as a slave owner as opposed to his contributions to the founding of this country.
The building and grounds are beautiful. We paid around $30.00 each for the tour. I thought for that price, we should've toured the whole house rather than just the main floor. When you buy the ticket, you aren't told that the upper floors are another tour. You find that out when you're just about finished.
So interesting! His home today is still 95% original. Puts you back in time. The tour guides are truly passionate about telling Jefferson’s story and are a wealth of knowledge. So glad we stopped on our way to Williamsburg, VA.
A Lovely 2 hour drive from DC....Lots of pastry and shops along the way. One can just feel the history...and the views are breathtaking.
