Make sure you plan enough time -- the official website suggests 3 hours but I would say more if you can. There is so much more to see besides the house visit -- which is definitely worth it. Plan especially to see the outdoor slavery tours and the graveyards -- the official one and also the slavery one and the self-guided tours. Spend time at the visitors center. Stroll around the gardens.
Wonderful docent Marge shared so many interesting facts about Jefferson and life at that time.
the house i enjoyed the tour
Beautiful views, awesome tour guides!
The man had amazing ingenuity and looks like he was far ahead of his peers perhaps more so than his neighbor!! And that is an argument worth starting!
Just the thought of being where a Founding Father resided sends chills. Such a privilege to experience this!
It's good to see that people have preserved their past regardless of the negativity attached to it.
This is an amazing home to visit. I hope those who come to Charlottesville realize what an amazing man designed this home. Monticello is well preserved. I hope the visitors can also walk the gardens.
Beautiful tour and home. I wish the tour was more focused on the man and his great accomplishments and less on slavery and Sally Hemings.
