RecommendedWhat a unique place and a breathtaking setting
This is one of those "must see" places if you are interested in history. The home & the grounds are breathtaking! Take a tour or two. Don't leave without seeing the third floor & the Dome room. Get a picture with the life size statue of Thomas Jefferson, go to the gift shop & buy a book & learn more about the property, his life, his family & his slaves. You will be so thrilled that you did.
This whole experience was wonderful! The man was a genius!!
It is beautiful, well maintained and shares important information about our Founders and the beginning of our country.
Though the grounds and gardens were less well-kept than I had seen before, Monticello still imbues the spirit of Jefferson’s vision for America in the house and interpretive center.

I really enjoyed going, the archeology tour was very interesting and talking to Thomas Jefferson was fun! You are given a specific time to tour the house, mine was really soon after I arrived, I wish they allowed you to choose a time. Heads up, no weapons of any kind allowed, and since your tour time is pretty quick you have to hustle back to your car. Signage for that should be right when you walk up so you can return to your car before purchasing your ticket.
