Great Hamburgers!!!! – My boyfriend and I absolutely love the hamburgers at Monteauxs! The Leprechaun burger is to die for! I would recommend trying a Teriyaki Sandwich and asking for a burger instead of chicken. It comes out incredibly juicy and always hits the spot! If you?re in for Happy Hour you?ve got to try the Chorizo Nachos. One plea I will make if an owner happens to be reading this review is that you please, please, please bring back the Meatloaf Sandwich with Tomato Jelly. No other Meatloaf Sandwich compares. Than... read more

Business response:

Thank you for your review. We have had many requests to bring back the meatloaf sandwich, so... we will put it on the list to revisit! We are also looking at some cable light fixtures to brighten it up at night - not an easy task due to the high ceilings! Thanks again for your nice words and suggestions. Larry

Inconsitent but decent – So to start I have to say that the idea of the resturaunt and the ambiance is great. To promote a different country's cuisine every month is a great idea and a lot of the time Monteaux's nails it. I've never had bad service there and it is very clean and well run. That said, the food can be inconsistent. I remember the first time I went the food was outstanding - I had the sheppards pie. Unfortunately the next time I went and ordered the same dish I noticed it was not nearly as good... too salty. The... read more

Thanks for your comments. I can't say that you're rating of average didn't sting, but at least you keep coming back. We will keep trying for perfection! BTW we have some special things happening to our menu between now and our 7th anniversary in August. I think you'll enjoy. Please say hello next time you are in and be sure to let us know if something is not to your liking - we would love to make it right while you are still here! Larry/Lisette & Sal/Lisa

Love it – It's unfortunate the last two comments might leave a reader with a bad impression of Monteauxs. I have to say I have never in the handful of times I patroned the restaurant, had bad service. From the moment I walk in the door to when I leave I have always felt more than welcome. The severs are always smiling, chatting amongst each other and with costumers ... all customers. This is one of many reasons I come here; the waitstaff genuinely seems to like their job. The food of course is the other reasons. It's good, s... read more

The anti-suburban establishment – When my husband and I moved from our downtown apartment to our new home in Aloha/Beaverton, we believed that outside of the occasional drive back to the city, we were resigning ourselves to nothing but ho-hum chain restaurants. Not so!! We discovered Monteaux's about a year ago, and have enjoyed regular visits ever since! The country specials are a great way to try something new, and while not all of them have turned out to be my favorites, I've really enjoyed several of them and like having... read more

This family-run pub is an oasis in a strip mall. – In Short Warm earthy hues and plush carpet give Monteaux's an industrial family-room feel. Craftsman lamps hang from warehouse-high ceilings over spacious booths and round wooden tables. The staff is quick with conversation and dotes on customers--business lunchers, happy-hour imbibers and families alike. The menu emphasizes comfort, with rich dishes and huge portions. Nachos are piled high with all the fixings, and Cajun calamari is crispy and addictive. Finish with the bro... read more

Good Happy Hour – I was looking for a place to spend happy hour this evening, and I came across this place as being fairly close to my house. I read the reviews on Citysearch, and was impressed that the owner took the time to reply to some of them. I like family owned, non-chain businesses. My husband and I went there for the first time today for happy hour. We were impressed that they carry ORGANIC FREE RANGE RED beer. We ordered too much food from the menu (two caesar salads w/rolls, fries, & Nacho's), and didn't finish it... read more

Caustic Customization – Stopped by for drinks and cheap eats, but was greeted with one of the stingiest happy hours I've ever come across. I ordered the $3 cheeseburger and, being intolerant to mayonaise, made a request that my meal be served sans sauce. My inquiry was met with a statement that the kitchen cannot fulfill custom orders. Custom? Medium-rare is custom. The addition of bacon is custom. I was omitting a step, therefore saving someone in the kitchen time. I didn't realize the customization required by omitting sau... read more

Thank you for your comments. After speaking with our entire staff I was able to confirm who was your server last Friday. I want you to know that that person is no longer employed by Monteaux's Public House. I think I may speak for all independent restaurant owners...please ask for a manager or at least leave a comment card if you have a bad experience. We work very hard to maintain a non-chain establishment in a corporate franchise world and an anonymous note on Citysearch makes it hard (but not impossible) to fix something.... read more

inconsistant but decent place on the Westside – Monteaux's is an interesting place. I have had great food here and then just so-so on more than one occasion. The decor is nice, with inviting colors and a nice layout inside. The restaurant does monthly ethnic food themes and I think this is where the inconsistancy lies. It is a great idea but one that doesn't always deliver. With a little more research and testing of dishes, it could be a great magnet restaurant, with a unique draw that could mean big business. As of right no... read more

Business response:

Thanks Juniper420 for your comments. Our goal with the "country specials" is to take ideas and flavors from different regions and mix them up a bit. We will absolutely take to heart your comment that sometimes it doesn't work, but we have to take some risks! In a city full of corporate "any town in America" restaurants we continually try to improve and evolve without falling into the same old/same old mass produced chain mentality that surrounds us. Thanks again for your patronage and comments - please introduce yourself the... read more

What an absolute delight!!!!! – I've been to many restaurants out of the city and let me tell you, this one by far exceeds any other locally owned business I have been to. When you enter the building you can tell the people care about every aspect. From the smiles down to the very personable service. Can I say how nice it is not to have the cookie-cutter server who wants to kneel by your table and try to sell you things they have no idea about? The food and the atmosphere are enough here. But you also have the extra added bo... read more
