Mitchell’s Ice Cream opened for business on June 6, 1953. Larry and Jack Mitchell’s goal was to make the very best ice cream in San Francisco. The Mitchells started out with nineteen flavors; all made with 16% butterfat cream and superior ingredients. They continued to add flavors as their store became more popular and in the early 1960’s they were the first to introduce Mango ice cream to the Bay Area. A great mom and pop place that's brick and mortar. Old school SF Creamery. A must do when in The City.
Fresh, delicious, creamy ice cream! Their Avocado ice cream is my favorite! Worth the drive from Oakland!

Scoops seem to have gotten smaller but great ice cream.
Mitchell's has friendly efficient staff and the some of the best and most obscure flavors you'll ever see. For example, last night I had a mascarpone mango cone, but I could've just as easily had a ginger coconut or French custard vanilla. There's something at Mitchell's for every lover of ice cream!
Great customer service to kids and adults. BEST, BEST ice cream I've had. Tried others and nothing compares to Mitchell's!
I've been going to this place since I was a kid, and even though the lines are long, it's always worth it ���
