What are just a few supplies that are needed to run a screen printing business? A computer graphic design program, a printing press, various mesh count screens, squeegees, brushes, inks, solvents, spot cleansers, emulsions, a curing unit, a dryer, and an industrial sink.
Traditionally, frames that held up screens used for printing were made from wood. But recently, aluminum frames have gained popularity because they are lighter and more resistant to damage than wood frames.
Properly curing the ink is important, not only for product quality, but for customer satisfaction as well. If not cured correctly, ink will wash out in the laundry. Do not rely on touch; plastisol or water-based inks need 45 seconds to a minute of drying time at the proper temperature.
Unfortunately, not every t-shirt printer will have access to all the hottest shirt and ink colors. Whether your needs are basic or complex, we have a wide variety of color options that can fit most desires.
What factor has a good deal of effect on the quality of the ink deposit? Fabric thickness. Inks travel farther and faster through thinner fabrics, which is why thin fabrics are preferred for creating crystal clear images.
Did you know that despite being one of the softest fabrics used for screen printing, cotton is also one of the most durable? Cotton fabrics can endure tumble drying and even baking under low heat.
When did the use of real silk in silk screens come to an end? During World War II, when silk was rerouted for the War Effort. Silk never really came back into use for silk screens as more affordable plastics took the place of silk mesh after the War.
Did you know? We have a wide selection of screen printing inks and paints in the most popular colors. We can customize your order with inks matched to your official colors, or add sparkle and shine using fluorescent, glow-in-the-dark and metallic inks.
Fine art screen prints are considered original artworks, because each piece has been produced using a design and stencil created by the artist. If that’s the type of work you do, remember to sign each print to verify that it’s an original piece of art.
