About this business
In 1915, Mario DeBenedetti began baking Italian breads in Lockport, Ill., using family recipes he brought to America from his homeland. He called his bakery Milano, after the Italian city he remembered from his youth. Demand for his fresh-baked breads grew quickly, and in 1926, the Milano Bakery moved into a new building. Everything. I am from Minnesota but have been working in "Chicagoland" for the last six months actually working in the bakery business. Well I gotta tell ya, the bakeries in Chicago are amazing, and so different than the ones in Minnesota, and this place stands out! I picked up some pumpkin buttercream cannolis ( you don't see cannolis in Minnesota much) and some fresh bread to bring home to the family, and they were delicious! This bakery is a great asset to this community! Thanks for being awesome!
