Located in Eagle Rock, L.A.'s new "it" neighborhood, Mia Sushi is a quiet retreat for a good meal. Their sushi chef recreates classic Japanese with California flavors, like Miso Soup with Cilantro. The Tuna Tartare, one of the best dishes, is served in cubes and placed on cucumber slices finished off with with sesame oil. Or try one of Mia's specialty rolls. The beauty, perhaps even the genius, of Mia is its patio seating covered in bamboo and its tranquil waterfall, which makes you forget the hustle of L.A. driving. Mia's i... read more

Great Sushi in Eagle Rock! – My wife and I have tired many sushi restaurants in LA. Some good, alot not worth mentioning. We read an a good review in the LA Times and thought we would give it a try. We were very impressed by the service and fresh sashimi. We had a jalape?o sashimi appetizer that was delicious! I don't know of any other sushi bars in Eagle Rock and for the price, I would strongly recommend. The staff was not uptight like some J town sushi bars. We made reservations and when we arrived, our table was waiting! ... read more
No good at all – I read all the reviews and despite the numerous bad ones, thought I'd still give it a try. Oh what a waste of time and (a lot) of money. The food was all terrible, the drink selection crappy and everything way overpriced. Beyond that, the valets try to FORCE you to use their service, despite ample parking all around. Just another way to throw away money here. I'm upset I wasted a perfectly good night and perfectly good appetite and (lots) of perfectly good money here. Take my word for it: IT'S NOT WORTH IT!
GREAT FOOD,SERVICE AND ATMOSPHERE – My girlfriend and I were in the Eagle Rock area and found a new Sushi restaurant by the name of Mia Sushi. We decided to try it and we were amazed at the friendly greeting as we entered the restaurant. We were lucky to be accommodated promtly at the sushi bar as the restaurant was busy. The sushi chef immediately greeted us and comped us an octopus salad. We were surprised at the freshness and wonderful flavor of the salad. However, we were mostly surprised at this gesture. We began lookin... read more
Great before a girls night out – I like to go to Mia's before heading out to old town for a night out. The sushi is always fresh and flavorful. I've dabbled around the menu a bit, but I keep coming back to the Mia roll and the chicken salad (a must try!). The atmosphere is upscale, but it is still comfortable and casual.
I'm Not Sure What People Are Complaining About – Ok. So...I'm not a huge sushi fan, but I have had enough of it to know when sushi is bad or good, and when I get the occasional sushi craving, I almost always head to Mia. I've tried to like other places, but Mia has never been anything but yummy, fun, and a good experience. My favorite waiter no longer works there, but even he still comes in to eat! I almost always end up getting the same things, like the firefish appetizer, the bamboo (used to be the ivy) roll, the eagle roc... read more
Look elsewhere – I have given Mia sushi several opportunities to delight my palate, however each time does not get better. I want to love it....it is the closet sushi place to me...but I dislike it. The service leaves much to be desired. Our servers have been inattentive, unknowledgeable, and inexperienced. Sit at the sushi bar for good service! The sushi is average, there are some creative takes on rolls. the CD14 is tasty. I would say look elsewhere, at least until they get it together at Mia.
Not GOOD! – I love sushi. Toro sashimi, salmon nigiri, spicy tuna rolls, whatever. I love it. What they serve at Mia is NOT sushi. The rice was dry, the fish oily and most of the time it was all drizzled in some overbearing sauce or stuffed full of mayo. Attempts at being "adventurous" just result in disasters and the fish doesn't have the quality to work for the tried and true favorites. I would like to describe this as just yet another sub-par Japanese restaurant, but alas it tries too hard to be special and fails miserabl... read more
Not Bad Not Bad – Okay, this place isn't bad at all. I probably come once a month...it is a little pricey for what you get, but all in all it is a great place. However, it is usually crowded so sometimes I'll just skip and go somewhere else instead of waiting.
Horribly Disappointed – I wish I had read more of these reviews before I went and blew a couple hundred dollars on such deficient sushi at Mia. I was fine with the lackluster service, the cheeseball decor and even willing to put up with valet parking in Eagle Rock (wtf?). But buying extremely overpriced, under-fresh sushi was just too much. The tuna was warm and fatty, the salmon oily and lord know what was wrong with the eel. Sub-par sushi to be sure, but why was I paying Nobu prices in East LA? Maybe if this place was in S... read more
