Obviously you have never been to a GOOD Mexican restaurant.... I went to Mexican Gardens once, and once only. The service was not impressive in the least, nor was the food. They are absurdly overpriced for Mexican food. The food was not fresh, and the chips and salsa disappointing. If you want good Mexican food in the area, try Pancho's (15570 King Rd, Riverview - at Grange Rd) or Tijuana Crossing (2760 W Jefferson Ave, Trenton). Great food, crowded on Friday, Saturday nights – The food is great and the prices too. My husband loves to come here, and I not being a mexican food fan can find things I enjoy too (though they look at me funny when I order french fries and a chicken qusidea). But don't go on a Friday or Saturday night and expect to just sit down. The are ALWAYS jammed packed, but the wait is usually about 30 minutes, and with the bar and large screen TV, the time flys by.
Great Mexican Food Mexican Gardens has great food and friendly, quick service. As a regular, I once called ahead, let them know I was short on time and that my cousin and I wanted to dine in. They took my order over the phone and had our table ready when we arrived, you can't get better service than that. They are the best!
Can't Understand the Rave Reviews!!!! I hadn't eaten there in a while but went last Friday in search of a good Mexican restaurant since Chi-Chi's closed, waited for a seat for at least 20 minutes.
guest service so-so – The food at Mexican Gardens is very good, but the service leaves much to be desired. I grew up in Southgate and have been going to Mexican Gardens for as long as I can remember. The food is what keeps my husband and family coming back. We are regulars there, at least once a week, but the servers do not ever act as if they have ever seen us before. Best Around – Fabulous Food, Fabulous Value!! I have lived in the area all my life and have yet to find a better Mexican restaurant. The enchilada sauce is the best.
Mexixan gardens I just can't get enough of Mexican Gardens! The food's great but their chips and salsa are just out of this world! They just redecorated too and it looks very nice in there. The service is very quick and the food is delicious! Main course could be better

The only negative thing I can say is that they sometimes want to charge for refills on softdrinks - that annoys me - but they don't all stick to that.
