Do they have stoves in this place? – Just got back from this place. Knew we should have left when we noticed they were less than an hour away from closing. The wait staff seemed like they were in a big hurry to get us in and out as fast as they could and were constantly looking at their watches and clocks. Our waitress took our orders and she said "I'll be back in one minute". Problem is, she was. It was more like five minutes but this was for a table of 4 guys and full dinners. TOO expensive, terrible food – I dont know why people crowd into this place. Only thing i can think of is cuz there s no other mexican around. It s too expensive and the food is so Americanized....almost like eating Taco Bell. They charge $2.00 for a soda. What a ripoff!
Too Smokey – Mexican Gardens has good food, fair prices and decent service but the SMOKE is too much. First you have to walk through and/or wait in the smokey bar area to get a table and then even is the non-smoking area it still smells like smoke. I have made a promise to no longer go to places that reek of smoke.
Great food, crowded on Friday, Saturday nights – The food is great and the prices too. My husband loves to come here, and I not being a mexican food fan can find things I enjoy too (though they look at me funny when I order french fries and a chicken qusidea). But don't go on a Friday or Saturday night and expect to just sit down. The are ALWAYS jammed packed, but the wait is usually about 30 minutes, and with the bar and large screen TV, the time flys by.
guest service so-so – The food at Mexican Gardens is very good, but the service leaves much to be desired. I grew up in Southgate and have been going to Mexican Gardens for as long as I can remember. The food is what keeps my husband and family coming back. We are regulars there, at least once a week, but the servers do not ever act as if they have ever seen us before. Best Around – Fabulous Food, Fabulous Value!! I have lived in the area all my life and have yet to find a better Mexican restaurant. The enchilada sauce is the best.
Wonderful – We have visited Mexican Gardens since I was a kid. We have seen it grow and change throughout the years but the friendly, propmt service has always been there. It is nice to go into a restaurant and be recognized by the staff. They make you feel at home. The food is very authentic and tasty. It is the best Mexican Restaurant in the area. I Love this place – I moved to this area in 1989 when I was 9 and this was the first Mexican resturant we ate at in this neighborhood, and it was the last. it was the family favorite for years. If I still lived there I would still go every friday with my kids. This place was tiny back in the day now it is beatiful and I'm sure it still is. The last time ate there was in 95 and I still talk about it. YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY! The best salsa! The beef TACOS ARE GREAT!
Awesome Mexican food – Great food for the prices. I travel from Toronto Ontario to eat here and it is well worth it. I have been coming to this restaurant for the past ten years or so. I highly reccomend this establishment.
