Sexy & Delicious – Great service. Sexy atmosphere -- hot music, plush velvet, great lighting. Delicious food -- fantastic scallops to start, ahi tuna entree was the best...very unique, sea bass was light and wonderful, dessert sushi roll was really fun.
Overrated – The food was good but very pricey and the portions weren't very filling. The ambience is very nice and glamorous. It's nicer to go to Mecca for drinks and then head on somewhere else for dinner.
Great ambiance, but that's about it – I came here with my girlfriends for a birthday dinner....We were very impressed when we walked into the restaurant, as the dim lighting, plush velvet couches, and deep vibrant colors drew us into this hip-swanky lookin restaurant! But Mecca's vibrance ended as we were seated. Waiters were not particularly friendly, food was extremely bland and therefore overpriced, cocktails didnt taste very fun, and music of nsync followed by some strange techno made us gag. NEVER AGAIN!
Posh But Bland – Mecca is an awesome place . . great ambience, awesome bar, and beautiful decor. However, the DJ didn't seem to understand the concept of fluidity with the selections he was playing (ie, 60's Brazilain Jazz suddenly turns into showtunes). The food could have been a lot better than what it was. They have such a beautiful open kitchen that you would think the chef's could whip up something to live up to the restaurant's appearance. My Trip to Mecca – Made the trip to Mecca with a group of friends on a Sunday night - we were not disappointed! The food was great - make sure you start with the calamari especially if you like low batter. Steak was nice size and cooked to order although my fries seemed to be the leftovers at the bottom of the batch. Drinks were healthy pours and the wine list more than satisfies. Mecca Lekka Hiney Ho – The bar at Mecca is a great spot to throw back some mussels (and some muscle queens) on your gay way from Castro to SoMa. Chill music, a bunch of fancy pants to horrify, and great wait staff. Quite the scene I must say.
