Everything is AMAZING – There are few spots with an entertaining atmosphere AND amazing food and MECCA provides both, and then some! The New American menu, with a southern twist, is home to some of the tastiest food in the city. I would highly recommend trying the foie gras, seared tuna, and the duck. To top everything off, the wine list is incredible! This is a MUST try!!!
Gracious service – We were seated without reservation on a Sat night at the bar facing the kitchen. This turned out to be a highlight, along with the food, but the real surprise was our gracious service. We received better service than I could've hoped for! While my opinion of service levels has reached a low, it was refreshing to have sincere attention paid to us by the entire staff. Thank you Mecca for a perfectly satisfying evening.
WAY too loud – If you're looking to dine in a dance club, with extremely loud (and not all that good) music blaring, Mecca is the place. If, on the other hand, you'd like to be able to actually HEAR your fellow diners, and enjoy your meal, I'd stay away. The service was spotty, at best, the atmosphere *extremely* loud, and the overall experience disapointing. All of this completely overshadowed the otherwise quite good food.

Fantastic – If you have not been here yet, you are depriving yourself one of those rare treats in dining in SF. It is a rare combination of great food, music, drinks and decor. I can't say enough about this place. Get reservations and get a booth.
HOSPITABLE, WARM service – For the last 6 years, I have always received EXCELLENT service. Right from when I am greeted by the the hostess, down to the bar, barbacks and wait staff. Very warm and hospitable and always have honored special requests.
too salty!! – It was my 2nd visit there and will be my last. I wasn't wowed the first time. Both the appetizer and main course I ordered were extremely salty. My companion had the same problem. I even doused my fish with lemon to neutralize the salt but to no avail. We could tast nothing but salt. Definitely not worth the price considering the numerous other restaurants in SF.
Mecca is a dream for trendy – Mecca is the kind of place where anything you order is going to be delicious. Yes, the decor is swanky and trendy. The music they play is awesome. Even the bathrooms are beautifully appointed. I highly recommend dining here with friends or for a romantic dinner
WEAK, WEAK DRINKS – I ordered a a drink at the bar before dinner - $9 for a dirty martini - that was so weak it was undrinkable. Didn't taste like there was any alchohol at all. To give them another chance, I ordered a vodka tonic with dinner. Again, incredibly weak. When I asked my waiter about this, he said the bar uses measured pours for their drinks. $9 for a drink with a measured pour - ridiculous!
