This Minneapolis favorite is a cheeseburger with the cheese stuffed on the inside of the burger instead of melted on top. Matt's has been featured on the Travel Channel's hit show,Man vs. Food, with the spotlight on, you guessed it, the Jucy Lucy. This dive bar has been a favorite of locals and visitors alike for over 25 years. If you are looking for the opposite of a stylish, swanky bar and food experience, Matt's is... read more

Definately a Dive – I like it that nobody is confusing what this place actually is, a realDive. But it works because the food is good, and they keep the prices down by not providing plates and silverware. The burgers and fries were served fast food style on a piece of wax paper. It's worth the money every time.

Fear the Cheese! – There are plenty of burger joints that boast inventing the jucy lucy, but all us locals know that Matt's is the one!

I've never found anything like Matt's Juicy Lucy – While Matt's is your "typical" old-fashioned neighborhood bar, there is nothing typical about its premier attraction. The "Juicy Lucy" was something I heard about when I first moved to that neighborhood in 1983. I've since moved to another part of Minnesota but every now and then I return to the cities and stop in at Matt's for truly the best burger in the Twin Cities.

Bring the kids... – The bar is smoking throughout, but I have always been able to find a non-smoky seat. (Usually near the back.) I'm not afraid to bring the kids...and they have highchairs and even sippy cups if you forget to bring your own! Our friends from California MUST go every time they're in town and their one-year old loves the fries as much as the rest of us. And the Jucy Lucy...no other burger comes close to being this perfect! Just remember, no plates, no ice.

Great Burger Dive – To put it bluntly this place is a dive. The decor inside is dark and kinda grungy. It adds to the experience though. Something says special if a place doesn't need to have the gimmicks to excel. Of course I ordered a jucy lucy. I'd never bother with anything else here. And of course it was fantastic. The fries were also top notch. I do feel that $1.25 for a can of pop was excessive. Word of warning, ration your drinks.

Good but... – I could have done without the cook speaking about his adventures drinking the night before and describing how he threw up while my family was trying to eat. I love the food and the atmosphere and will definitely return.
