Dr. Drakos spent plenty of time with me explaining the procedure during his office visits. He listened to all my questions and answered them thoughtfully. His PA and staff were very responsive to my needs and quick to return a call. Surgery was successful, as was the recovery. Overall I was very pleased and happy that I finally went through with a surgical procedure that I had put off for years.
Top Doctor, He had to redo a problem from a prior doctors mistake
He looked at my foot for 5 minutes diagnosed it with "nerve pain". After that, I went to NYU and instantly the surgeon said I don't have nerve pain. And that I have actual issues caused by scar tissue, bulky muscle, and an overly stretched tendon I had surgery not long after I switched. Don't waste time money or frustration with this excuse for a doctor.
TERRIBLE DOCTOR - I went to him for a straight forward bunionectomy. He convinced me to have an experimental implant but NEVER TOLD ME he was NOT doing the bunion surgery. Horrible at listening, explaining and communicating - and I wonder if he got a kick back for doing the experimental procedure instead of what I needed.
I have seen Dr. Drakos twice - both times for broken ankles. I have a chronic problem with breaking my ankle (6 times in 4 years) and he treated me as if I hardly had anything wrong with me. He did nothing to find out the underlying cause of my issue, and because I did not need surgery immediately, he dismissed my issue as minor. Wear a boot, go to PT, on your way. That's it. HSS Surgeons thing they are infallible. He was useless to me entirely. Another dr. later discovered through a CT scan that my ankle had never healed - ... read more
Poor at communicating w pt. Poor w time management. Poor at following up w patients
I never actually Dr Drakos however his PA Nicole found my problem and recommended treatment that is working fine. Nicole spent time to explain my problem how to cure it. I also dealt with Sharon who also is excellent and followed and explained what to expect.
Dr. Drakos was as advertised - preeminent in the field, professional, personable and straight to the point. He got me in to diagnose my injury (achilles tear) quickly, proposed and recommended options best suited for my situation and performed the surgery with no complications. Moreover, he monitored my progress throughout and put me together with the right rehab folks to assure a speedy and complete recovery. He's hands down an absolute All Pro.
Dr. Drakos repaired the anterior tibial tendon of my right ankle. He did an amazing job and, when I complained of pain in my left hip, he ordered an MRI that revealed a spinal cyst, as well as spondylolesthesis and stenosis. Dr. Drakos listened to me when I was in pain, even when that pain was not in my ankle. which resulted in spine surgery in 2018. Now I have my life back. I just completed the Shape Half on 4/14/19 and I feel amazing. Dr. Drakos, his PA, and rest of his staff are awesome!
