Truly the BEST orthopedic surgeon in NYC! With Dr. Drakos, you are in the most skilled hands. His expertise is unmatched, and his warm, welcoming staff makes every visit a reassuring experience. His skill and dedication gave me the expert care I needed and helped me return to my sport stronger than ever.
So thankful I found Dr Drakos!I had a botched foot surgery from a local podiatrist which really rendered me barely mobile for 14 months. It was a struggle to walk and my job requires me to be on my feet for many hours. Dr Drakos performed a fusion revision with graft of the big toe joint. It was a tough and long recovery but well worth it! He and his team literally got me back up on my feet and I could not be more grateful!! Thank you Drakos team!!
Dr Drakos was recommended to me by another physician to repair a foot fracture and I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. I was given both conservative treatment options as well as surgery and felt surgery offered me the best possible outcome. Dr Drakos outlined what to expect in terms of my recovery and everything turned out just as he described. I am now 4 months post-op playing sports, taking lengthy walks and best of all pain free. So much so, I often forget I had surgery! I'm very grateful I found my way to this o... read more
Dr. Drakos is probably one of those elite surgeons who doesn’t seem to have empathy for patients and treat them like commodities. It was my first visit today for my ankle injury and I had x-ray and MRI ready. After 1.5 hours of waiting in the office, the “personal assistant” came in, asked some basic questions and immediately suggested 2 surgery options to me. Then they asked me to take an additional stress x-ray immediately. When I requested to meet the doctor first because I want to seek his opinion in the MRI and ask some... read more
This doctor and his PA treat their patients like idiots. It took multiple rounds of emails to get an answer to why the recovery timeline in the paperwork for the surgery didn't match what was discussed in the consult and what I should expect. I think when you are letting someone cut open your foot, the least you can do is actually explain the surgery correctly (another multiple round of emails post consult to get clarity there) and give them a realistic timeline of recovery, to say nothing of a detailed post op protocol. Personal attention
I had same experience as others. Dr. Drakos was rude and arrogant and it was really a waste of time. I guess his attitude might depend on the day and his mood and possibly if he considers you a surgical candidate. Dr. Drakos did not want to operate but another doctor in the same group did. Now getting third opinion. Also agree that having Dr.Drakos as part of HSS staff does not help reputation of HSS.
Dr. Drakos is a top surgeon - a pioneer with excellence in everything he does in my experience as a patient. I had toe surgery and it went well and I'm healed. Look at his HSS rating if you need more convincing :) it's 4.9 for 700+ people.
I saw Dr Drakos based on his approach to my ankle, I had both ankles done. I’m still recovering, but actually no pain and the progress after surgery is amazing and quick compare to other approaches to this problem.
