I don’t recommend the Maine medical center emergency room. As a matter of fact I don’t recommend this facility or any related to Maine health. I strongly recommend you go anywhere else if possible. They all provide the worst healthcare and service possible. That being said Maine medical center went above and beyond their bad service record last night. Apparently the Dr on duty Zachary Tillett does not consider a severely septic kidney issue and diverticulitis to be Emergency room worthy and will lecture you on how it is not.... read more

I was recently hospitalized in Portland at Maine Medical for surgery to repair my femur bone. It required surgery and a 4 day stay in room 521. In the 4 days that I was hospitalized, not one time was there a housekeeping or cleaning person who came in to sweep, mop or clean the bathroom. I didn't make it to the bathroom until my last day, and when I finally made it there it was disgusting. There was blood and feces on the toilet and there were undergarments on the handrails that had been left from the previous patient. I cho... read more

My husband had outpatient surgery today and the nursing staff lost all of his belongings - shoes, socks, underwear, shirt, shorts, health insurance card, driver’s license and his phone. He waited for almost an hour to be released, in pain and nauseous, while they looked for it but couldn’t find any of it, so he was wheeled out in scrubs. They think his belongings were accidentally thrown out with the trash, then sent to the compactor, and then the incinerator. But they don’t know for sure. So now we have to replace his phone... read more

31 years ago I went into preterm labor at 25 weeks, I will forever believe had I not been transported to MMC and my son delivered there he wouldnt be alive today. He is an Army veteran and a college graduate! To all the NICU, emergency room and L&D people on duty the night of 10-7-1989 I can never repay you or say thank you for saving my baby

When you go to Maine medical because you’ve been having intense head pressure, nausea and vomiting, dizziness, and weakness, and get a cat scan and are told it will take 45 minutes for the results and you have to wait in the waiting room, they wouldn’t even give me a room or a bed so I could lie down. Well 4 and a half hours later I was still waiting in the waiting room for the results. Was told that I could not have any water while I was waiting because it might affect any stomach tests they might order. Asked them how much... read more

PSA: if you are in the portland maine area looking for an OBGYN- DO NOT GO TO MAINE MED OBGYN. They are the most UNORGANIZED, MISINFORMED, UNEDUCATED, doctors and nurses, and office in general. They have the worst communication skills, and a major lack of ethic. Maybe it would be okay as a regular OB, but if you’re looking for someone to trust through a pregnancy, look for a different office. I am high risk, with 2 abruptions to my placenta, and the OB office has literally down played it so much, my doctor told me she wouldn... read more
