dirty dirty dirty – I have been to madam mam's twice. I do have to agree with everyone about the taste of food which is good but both experiences that I have had, uh, not so good. They have no problems seating you at all, well of course not, they want your money. But be prepared to sit for about 20 minutes before someone takes your order and about 20 to 30 minutes for your food. PSYCHO Owner! – So, I lived in Austin throughout college and have been to Madam Mam's many times. The service was always a little sketchy, but it was just INSANE the last time I went. I ordered the Tom Kha and asked for them to add some pepper to make it a little spicy, but I specified, not too much. I got my food back and it was SO spicy that it wasn't even edible (and I can handle spicy food!) I told our server, and what was her response? "Sorry, kitchen closed." It's been amazing every time – Wow, I'm kind of surprised at all these comments about waiters chasing you down for tips and the crazy owner. Maybe I've just been really lucky I don't know. I've eaten at both locations dozens of times and have had a good experience. I always get the Beef Pad Thai, it's so good and I find myself craving it if I haven't had it in awhile. Only go if you want to get yelled at...by the OWNER!!!! – My boyfriend and I have been eating at Madam Mam's for two years. Despite the horrible service and long waits for food we have continued to go back because the food is pretty good and cheap. Even after finding a piece of raw pork in our vegetarian meal, we still continued to go back. Great Thai Food! – Reading reviews... I was surprised to find out that people get chased down for tip, but maybe that is because I generally always tip (cause I know how it is being a waiter). How much I tip depends on the service of course. Either way I have always enjoyed the curry dishes here for their size, taste, and portion size. Also, the Pad Thai is another favorite of mine here as well. Overall, I have personally always had good service and good food here. I recommend to anyone to come and try it for yourself.
Good Food! But Yes the waiters are crazy! – I've been eatting at Madam Mm's ever since it was Noodles and More! After revisting last week, I was in shock with the poor service. After complaining about the lack of service even for a refill on our water, the reply we received was " why are you complaining your not paying for the water!" Bad+service = No Tip! Worst Pad Thai I've Ever Had... – I've recently moved to Austin from Los Angeles, which is home to the largest Thai population outside Thailand. So, I know what pad thai is supposed to taste like. Madam Mam's doesn't even come close. The noodles were dry and bland, and it was completely missing the interaction of flavors that makes thai food unique. Great for Austin – I'm pretty picky about Thai food having spent some time in Thailand. But Madam mam's is pretty good considering you're in Texas! It all tastes pretty authentic except there could be some more fresh herbs. The tom sum wasn't that spicy either but I guess they have to tone it down. We went to the south location which was newer. It kind of smelled like fresh paint, but I thought it was cute. The staff is very very nice and cute. I'll definitely be back! sawat di ka!
