It is because of birth workers like Lori Bertolini and her comments toward women within the “fantasy population” that many women of color continue to be mistreated and mishandled within the healthcare system. I do NOT recommend anyone this clinic as long as this woman operates within its walls.
One of your Midwives, Lori took the time to be racist on Facebook today and wrote very disparaging comments about the community serviced by your clinic. It’s clear that here bias is impacting her ability to give safe and competent care. She has no business in that community and should not be paid to complete work that is harmful to the clientele being served.
Lori Bertolini a current midwife with this practice has shared statements that are the epiphany and mockery to those in midwifery. Her statements displayed an obvious racial and social bias. My concern is how that ideology is communicated during interaction with families of color. Her views as expressed show the distinct need for education on the history of midwifery in the US and it’s origin. This type of hatred is dangerous and should not be concealed in any sector public or private.
I do not recommend this facility since they have employed someone who is racist and prejudice. The comments that I’ve read last night and this morning by this employee has be shocked and saddened. I cannot fathom the pain she’s put any people of color through during their special time. I hope her racist and classist views are not equally share but this facility, but until it is dealt with I have to assume it is.
I would not recommend coming here unless you’re ok with a midwife who is outwardly and blatantly racist! I can’t imagine how she might treat some of her patients... SHE SHOULD NOT BE EMPLOYED IN A CLIENT SERVING SPACE. Especially a space that serves marginalized communities!
I can't support a business who employs hateful racist people who are supposed to care for all folks.

I would NEVER recommend this practice to anyone. Lori Bertolini expressed hate towards African American midwives online and bragged that this practice had only white midwives. Unless your practice does some serious training AND holds Lori accountable for her actions, I will continue to tell those within this community to stay away from this practice.
