Dr Castro is very personable and is really good at explaining complex medical procedures in terms that are easy to understand. Right now in the process of scheduling a Hybrid Ablation with Dr Castro.

Dr. Castro performed a mitral valve repair and surgical Cox Maze. I made a number of calls around the industry (I work in medtech) and without exception everyone recommended Dr. Castro (e.g. no need for second opinion. No one better' was one quote). Dr. Castro spends exceptional time with the patient, very attentive, caring and never rushed. My surgery went incredibly well and was quite unique (including a lower mini-sternotomy - not many surgeons could do that!). The surgical and nursing staff at Sequoia were great. As anot... read more

Dr. Luis Castro listens carefully to information I provide regarding my health status and adjusts his treatment decisions accordingly. He takes time to show my images of my heart so I can better understand my condition. To notch care!

I got my Triscupid valve replacement for a very complicated congenital heart condition. He was the go to person from my cardiologist and explained me the process of whats going to be done. in most case replacing triscupid valve is very risky but for it was a must. Dr. Castro looked at my case and gave specifics on what will done whats is risk appetite and other details which was very helpful and made our choice to do the surgery or not easier. After the surgery it took me a couple of months to recover and it was no problem a... read more

Dr. Castro performed a second open heart surgery on me. My first was done by a good surgeon, but he overlooked two damaged valves when replacing my aortic valve. 2nd open heart surgeries are more difficult so I sought a specialist and Dr. Castro's name kept popping up as the go to guy. Maybe one of my best ever decisions! One year after surgery and I am hiking, biking and pretty much doing what I want. Just had an echo and everything came up "normal" with an EF of 60% (it had been around 30%). Besides being a great surgeon, ... read more

Dr. Castro fixed two problems with me. I am 100% happy and have completely recovered. I had a bad valve and an undiagnosed aorta problem. After fixing the valve, Dr. Castro noticed the aorta problem and repaired that too.

It’s difficult to put into words how grateful my family and I are, that we found Dr. Luis Castro. We went from being told that there was nothing more that can be done for my father and that it was only a matter of time, to Dr. Castro saying, “I’m 95% certain that I can fix and reverse your dad’s condition.” When other medical professionals had given up on my father, luckily, he did not! Dr. Castro is a gifted Surgeon, a man of honor and sincerity, a true gem!

Dr. Castro is a truly gifted surgeon. He did my mitral valve repair on January 15, 2020. He was able to make the repair through a 3 1/2" incision (mini lower sternotomy) at the bottom of my sternum, so the incision is barley visible. I did most of my recovery during my 5 days in the hospital. I'm feeling great 2 weeks out and I give a lot of the credit to Dr. Castro's entire team and their amazing care! I'm not one to usually write reviews, but this was a no brainer when it comes to something as important as heart surgery. I... read more
