5% overwound P. Called and explained that I work for attack. I try to sound like I'm spitting the notes off the strings, but I needed more thickness without sacrificing aggression. Lindy recommended the 5% overwound P. It was EXACTLY what I was hoping for. It takes not only a killer craftsman but a fellow musician with an ear to understand that kind of description and translate it perfectly into a thing of wire and magnets.
I just put Fralins in a P/J setup. P-Bass (no overwind), and a split Jazz with 5% overwind. I used a Jazz Bass stack knob set for controls so I would have a vol/tone for each pickup. OMG! The bass sounds amazing! Tone like you read about! I would highly recommend the Fralins. By the way ...I've been playing 50 years, and I don't impress easily! ~ Hal York
