A favorite local stop since 1952, this bakery, less than a mile outside Waikiki, is famous for its malasadas. These pastries are a local favorite, similar to doughnuts only without the holes. They're best eaten hot, leaden when cold. Another specialty is pao doce (Portuguese sweet bread). Danish pastries, cookies, breads and specialty wedding and birthday cakes are also available. This is take out only; there is no place to sit. Parking is available.

A friend told me about these little deep fried pillows of deliciousness, to bad their not in California
I lived within walking distance of Leonard's in 1968 and worked at Kapahulu IGA store across the street! I LOVED malasadas. Moved back to the mainland in 1969 and never went back until a cruise in 2007. One of the first places I took my husband was Leonards and we sat outside on a bench and I tasted once again the best malasadas in the world!!
Fresh, warm, sweet. we walked from the parkshore hotel to get some it was worth it.
Its ok. Hokama's on Maui is better. Too oily. Waited too long. Not the true way of Making it.
I had never had a malasadas before. My boyfriend told me his co-worker brought some into work. He wanted to see what the fuss was about. There was a big line, it was worth it. They tasted way better warm, 2 thumbs up :)
My family's first time, they loved it!!! Hot malasadas (Portuguese donuts) made fresh to order!
Yummy!! Different from a regular donut...maybe because of the texture of the dough??!!
Leonard's malasadas are one of the things I've missed since moving to the mainland. Just saw a scene on HAWAII 5-0 that reminded me nothing on mainland is that good.
Soft heaven filled cushions! We did a variety of the filled ones. My 7 year old promptly declared that the chocolate filled malasada was the best thing she has ever eaten!
