Dishonest business practices. They lied about the features available at their facility and sold me a membership while having no wifi for over a week and concealing that information from me. When I found out I canceled my membership within rescission and have a right to my full refund and they have been giving me the run around for two weeks trying not to give me back my money that they took in exchange for nothing. Attempted to cancel my membership before the billing cycle hit in March 2021. The gyms closed down due to COVID-19. I was notified that the billing would resume for membership and immediately contacted my local gym to cancel my membership. I called the LA Fitness located at Coldwater Canyon Ave, Sherman Oaks, CA, on March 19, 2021 to cancel. I cancelled my membership at the Pearland Parkway LA Fitness in January 2021. I followed all the instructions in the contract to cancel. We are now in May, I have cancelled w two other reps at La Fitness since January, and still my contract is not cancelled. I receive multiple calls and emails every week requesting payment and promises to cancel. I have had to contact my bank to stop them from auto withdrawing on my card. BE CAREFUL!!! I signed up with LA Fitness for a 2-year program and I REMEMBER clearly at the time of signing that the agent told me I can cancel anytime and get my refund back for the remainder of the contract. I'm moving to a different state now and requested a cancellation and guess what ... no refund for cancelling because I paid up front. Cancellation policy of LA Fitness is intentionally difficult so company can reap extra profits from its members. To begin with, a new member pays an Initiation Fee plus "last month dues" - which means the company collects extra monies from its members that it will hold for years. In my case, I was a member for 12 years and relocated to a state with no LA Fitness gym. I have been a member of LA Fitness for about 9 years now. I go to the club regularly with my two sons. On 05/06/2021, I entered the gym and the clerk at the desk asked my kids to sign in. I told them I was scanning in and asked the clerk if this would be an issue every time we came in because I have an upgraded account and both have been on my visitors list for years. FRAUD, SCAM and poor customer service. I started going to this gym in 2016 and decided I wanted to cancel around the beginning of 2018. Which I did, I canceled. When I started going I was 16, so I wasn't really set up and I had my moms credit card on the account. My mom is an older immigrant so she has some difficulty on technology, the English language, and checking her bank statement. I attempted to cancel my membership before the billing cycle. The phrases that were used by their employees "sorry you gotta do that online, sorry you gotta come in person to do that, you can come in between 9am-5pm." I showed up at 3:58pm. "I am sorry the manager left at 3pm, you gotta come in between 6am-3pm." A month later, I have had at least 15 different employees from different branch/location contacted me trying to collect. I wanted to start taking better care of my health (as per the recommendation by my Doctor), So I went to LA Fitness on Camelback. I set down to speak with the location manager and he then brought over a personal trainer.
