This elegant and distinctive dining place demands a formal dress code. The ornate dining room, wine cellar and banquet room are pictures of royalty; the private room in particular has renaissance artwork on its ceiling. It is evident from the quality of the food that Chef Sena is obsessed with details—especially try Bistecca Al Pepe Verde, Pollo Affumicato and Risotto Mare e Monti. You can also spend a good portion of your time at Famiglia perusing wines from France, Italy and California from the wine list; this place ... read more

I have been going to this restaurant for many years. The last two years I started to see it slipping a bit, when waiters had been established with the restaurant for many years started to disappear. I went to the restaurant this pass saturday to celebrate my dads 65th B Day. Two words would describe the event TRAIN WRECK!! It started bad with the fact that our reservation was for 8:30 and we did not sit till 9:15. The bar tender was clueless behind the bar and instead of asking the entire group what they wanted to drink, she... read more
Great Service, Average Food – The service at La Fagmiglia is the best I've experienced in a long time. Two weeks ago I flew into Philly with my 5 year old son. Not being familiar with any Italian restaurants in the city, I asked a native on the plane for a referral. When we entered La Famiglia, I immediately regretted arriving with even a well-behaved child. This is FORMAL atmosphere. However everyone from the hostess to the waiters catered to our every need and made us both feel comfortable throughout the entire meal. Excel... read more
Always a great meal! – La Famiglia is the best place to go when you want to have a great, relaxing meal with an awesome bottle (or two) of wine. I am all for BYOB's but I am tired of being rushed through dinner in a cramped, packed, smelly and loud place.
Fabulous! – I recently graduated from graduate school and got my masters. As a gift for this accomplishment, my husband is treating and joining me on a trip to Italy later this summer. I was told that a new chef from Naples, Italy had just started to cook at La Famiglia, so to celebrate my new degree it seemed fitting to take my family there before my trip to Italy. I was nervous at first about getting everyone ready and in the appropriate clothes, but when I got there I realized that La Famiglia is totally casual which to m... read more
amazing! – I was recently at La Famiglia and had an amazing dining experience! I found out that they had just hired a new chef (from Naples, Italy) and he created a new menu- everything looked incredible! I love Italian cuisine and always wanted to dine at La Famiglia, but was a little intimidated to try it because of it's reputation as being very fancy. The second I walked in the door all of my fears disappeared - I fit right in and I was only wearing jeans and a nice blouse! The ambiance of the restaurant is wonderful- ver... read more
The Good, the Bad & the Creepy of La Famiglia – I dined at La Famiglia with my boyfriend on a Friday night during Restaurant Week Jan2009. Perhaps a Restaurant Week experience alone is not a good indication of the quality of a restaurant, but it seems as though La Famiglia has had many Res Week failures. First of all, while we were waiting to be seated, an angry couple vented to the manager (loudly enough for everyone in the bar area to hear) about the rushed service and poor quality of food. They said they have had pleasant... read more
it was restaurant week.... – eh.. it was restaurant week, so you can never really judge a place from a set menu.. you know theyre cranking those particular meals out all night. decent service , decent meal, though my app tasted like sloppy joe from the sea .. id like to go back and get something on the real menu... cheers!
Sena family has featured elegant presentations and upscale Italian dining since 1976. – In Short It's classic rococo decor with the requisite frills. Pass through the heavy velvet drapes and enter the small, stone- and marble-adorned dining room. Vivaldi, Verdi and vintage opera recordings fill the air. The menu includes sauteed shrimp, ravioli with ricotta in red bell pepper sauce, veal chop with garlic and basil, shrimp in lobster cream, filet mignon with duck liver and juniper berry sauce. Make room for tiramisu, fresh fr... read more
A policy of benign neglect at La Failure. – I ate there with friends during Restaurant Week. The kindest thing I could say about the waitstaff was that they seemed to be exercising a policy of benign neglect. It was obvious that they took no particular interest in whether we had a pleasant dining experience there or not. My silverware was hurled in my general direction and I had to set my own place. When I went to the restroom, I returned to find that my napkin had not been refolded for me. The kicker was that the dessert ha... read more
