Fellini's classic 1960 film La Dolce Vita, or "The Sweet Life," is the inspiration for this Little Italy restaurant. But where Fellini focuses on the alienation of modern hedonism, the restaurant of the same name wisely focuses on authentic Italian food. Much of the menu is based around daily specials of fish, risotto and pasta, among other things. More permanent entrées include polo pomodoro, chicken in white wine with tomatoes, garlic and feta cheese; or vitelo di Verona, with veal topped by tomatoes, artichokes and... read more

olf shrimp= sick – I was up till 5 a.m. violently throwing up... Worst meal I have ever had... Try to make this short.... Rewind a few hours: Girl that sat us was nice, waitress was nice. I ordered shrimp risotto; ate one shrimp and one bite of risotto (which didn't resemble risotto at all- horrible). I have NEVER once in my life sent back a meal or complained, ever (or written in one of this reviews). We were very polite and I just told them it was inedible and they should check the shrimp and probably not serve it. Dinner ... read more
Great food and atmosphere – this is a true slice of little italy, the best outside of NYC and chitown. terry is a sweet guy, not phony. i get an italian cheek kiss and i dont know him personally, just by running with the hip crowd i guess, as that is who this place caters to. he manages it like his own home and THAT my friends is italian. i agree, those people should go to Brio instead. garbage? its well hidden in the outside cellar area (just like NYC). the food is really great. try the fellini. oh, and it is actually affor... read more
Too Expensive – I read the other reviews and a lot of them were not good so I thought I would give it a chance and find out for myself. Well we did and I regret it, but not the total experience. Service was good unlike the other reviews, not a problem what so ever. Waitress was very good always there, owner did come up and ask how things were but that is all. It was the price for the quality of food. I thought it was very very over priced for what you received. We felt it was worth about 1/2 of the cost of what they charged.... read more
Hairy chest with a side of pesto! – I went with friends to dinner after hearing mixed reviews about the place. I want to ask the people who thought this place was good- "what the hell are you thinking" And secondly, "who the heck is in charge" What a mess! We walked down Murray Hill and the back of this place is frightening. The smell coming from the dumpsters was disgusting and there was trash all over the parking lot. I thought how clean could this place be? When I got inside in the sweltering heat, I could just feel the f... read more
Service Isn't Bad, It is Non-Existant – I have visited La Dolce Vita twice in the past year- or tried. The first time was with my boyfriend for my birthday dinner last fall on a weekday night. We arrived around 8:30pm. After standing at the door to be seated, we finally tracked down a host who asked us to sit where we liked. After selecting a table in the main dining area next to the wall, menus and a server never arrived. After 20 minutes, we left. The second time was on a weekend night this spring, and the service was just... read more
The boss is a jerk---in front of customers! – I've never once been at a restaurant where the owner openly uses profanity and blatant attitude with the workers. The very sweet and clearly stressed-out hostess tried to seat us at a table that was too close to another table, so she tried to move it (for OUR convenience). the boss immediately came over and started screaming in her face---he used the F word twice! i don't care that we were a bunch of college kids with him...i lost my respect for the restaurant immediately. for an... read more
the greatest disappointment in dining history – My recent experience at La Dolce Vita can only be described as an absolute crime... a complete dissapointemnt given the high expectations our party (4 established, well dressed and influencial young professionals) had in driving to the Little Italy establishment with such a 'fine reputation'. A 30 minute delay for pre-dinner drinks while waiting for our reserved table to be wiped down (not cleared, just wiped) , was only a warm-up to the 20 minute wait for our menus to arrive o... read more
Great Authentic Italian – La Dolce Vita is a terrific restaurant for authentic italian in an atmosphere that is quite like that you'll find in some parts of Italy. I love the setting, the service, and especially the food. Prices are reasonable for what you're getting.
Not trying to be Brio – I would like to respond to the post left in Dec. regarding the ambiance in La Dolce Vita. The author should do us all a favor and stay in the Lestoil-scrubbed "neuvo neighborhoods" popping up all over the 'burbs if pristine, saccharine surroundings are what he craves!! La Dolce Vita has some of the finest service, most authentic, interssting decor and, last but not least, the best Italian and Mediterranean cuisine I have ever had. It is truly a one-of-a-kind restaurant in a unique area of Cleveland an... read more
