Excellent Italian Food – My husband and I were visting Boston for our Anniversary weekend and had a wonderful time and meal at Dolce Vita. We sat in a back corner which provided an intimate setting. The strolling guitar player set the mood as we enjoyed our wine & appetizer. Veal Chop and stuffed sole were sensational (specials). We finished our wine at the bar and the owner sang a couple of songs and had everyone singing and clapping. We had a great evening and would go back again the next time we're in town.

Don't Plan On It – Don't bother making reservations at Dolce Vita. They will not be honored. Showed up on time with our group and they did not have a table for us, though we had made reservations for a Wed. night a week in advance. The owner had no apologies and recommended we go somewhere else. We did, and the food was much better. I've been to Dolce Vita previous time and was never impressed. Don't waste your time with this one.

Never again – We made 8:00 reservations for a group of 15. We were running a little late but had a member of our group at the restaurant at 7:56 to let them know we were arriving shortly. By the time someone approached her they said they gave our tables away because we were late. The entire group was there by 8:10. When I approached the owner he blamed it on us saying we did not call to say we'd be late. I guess a live person wasn't good enough?? What restaurant gives up tables after a mere 10 minutes. Basically they never e... read more

won't be back – The manager who waited on us (I guess they let all the servers go home early and then got a rush) forgot we were sitting there more than twice. The manager lied, saying there was a big party holding up everything. Our meals came out and had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time and were INEDIBLE. They had clearly been forgotten about. I never send anything back anywhere but did this time. When they brought back a replacement (in about one-eighth of the time) it was the wrong thing. I would go to ... read more

unappetizing ordeal – I had the unfortunate luck of dining in this establishment for my friend's birthday. She had made a reservation a week in advance- it didn't matter! We waited around for an hour, while the large groups ahead of us finished their meals. While we waited, the bartender ignored us for 15 minutes before my husband was able to flag her down for some over-priced drinks. The tiny portions of food were bland and over-priced, and the room was too loud to carry a decent conversation. I found the whole experience t... read more

9.5 no way! – We got there early and the place was fairly empty, but that didn't stop the waiters from completely ignoring us after we were seated. Once they acknowledged us and took our order, they allowed us to wait almost 20 minutes for water, bread and wine. Our meal was not only equally slow, but they served the wrong order to a member in our party, allowed them to wait another 15 minutes for the order to be cooked, and then served the wrong order again. To add insult to injury, they had the nerve to charge $30 for this... read more

Great night out! – It was my 30th birthday and a friend recommended Dolce Vita as the "hands down" best Italian family style food in the North end. I had to try it. Having 2 kids, and not a lot of time to ourselves, my husband and I jumped at the chance for a great meal. We were very pleased with Dolce Vita. The owner did greet us at the door with a jovial "Bona Cera!" and seated us promptly. We had reservations and were running late-but it was no problem. Appetizer of Bruschetta was delicious along with a WARM shrimp cockta... read more

Wonderful Dining Experience – Visited Boston and friends recommended this restaurant. The food was fantastic, service impeccable, and atmosphere warm and inviting. The owner is very friendly and the wait person was attentive and very helpful, making food perfect recommendations from the menu and wine list. The prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity of food and the wine list was very reasonable as well. We'll definitely make another trip to this restaurant next time we're in Boston!

Bad choice for groups – Reservations are not honored at this restaurant. I don't know why they claim to take them. We arrived on time and never got a table after waiting for over 45 minutes with our group. The owner ignored us and was quite patronizing when we tried to ask when we'd be seated. The bartender was surly and unpleasant. We ended up leaving and going across the street to Il Vilagio where we had a very nice evening.
