Dinner??? What Dinner??? – Had a Sat night reservation for 8pm... We were brushed off by the owner when we told him we were there waiting for our table.. "oh bella bella i see you"... At 9pm we let him know we had a show to get to at 10pm (thinking to ourselves it was too late to get into another North End restaurant at this time on Sat night we stupidly waited). Again we were treated rudely.. "bella i told you i saw you waiting... i am working very hard... we have a wait b/c of the snow"... I'm sorry does it usually not sno... read more
Rude Owner- Ruins the night – The owner needs to take customer service classes! Rushed us through our meal, hovered over our shoulders, telling us that we were late for our reservation (we were 15 minutes early!), and hung up on us when we tried to call him. As it was a celebration, we were not happy. All he cared about was turning over the tables to make more money. Spent quite a bit of money to enjoy ourselves, not be stared at and watch him yell at waitstaff in front of everyone. Won't be going back.
Rude! – We had 8:30 reservations on Saturday night for a party of 6. When we showed up we were told that they were running behind and it would be 20 minutes. We had to wait outside in the cold because there were so many other people waiting inside. Another person told me they waited over an hour for their "reserved" table. After 20 minutes of waiting, we asked again and were told by the condescending host that he would take care of us. He kept saying "What can I do? People aren't leaving." After reading the other reviews I r... read more
Reservation? Who Cares? – I made a reservation for 8:30pm on a Friday night, but when we arrived we had to fight our way in through a huge crowd (other folks waiting to sit) to find the manager, only to be told to wait closer to the door and he would "take care of us." Taking care of us meant we only had to wait AN HOUR AND A HALF!! to get seated. What was the point of making a reservation? They could have told us on the phone or when we got there that the wait would be long. The restaurant was VERY loud throughout our meal.... read more
So Rude!!! Made us wait 3 hours...don't go here!! – Do not give these people business!! Resevations and customer service mean nothing to Dolce Vita! We had 7:30 reservations for my friends bday and we didn't get sat until 10:30!!!! When we spoke to the manager he said "Then go some place else" knowing very well, that at that point we couldn't. They never reserved a table for us. They just take a reservation for the heck of it. When we sat down, the server pushed us to order immediately and was extremely rude. Our plans for t... read more
Lively and Enjoyable – The ambiance of Dolce Vita makes you feel as though you'd stepped into an Italian family party: music, singing, lots of laughter and a host (the restaurant owner) who personally sees to it that each table's guests have plenty to eat and drink. The food was exceptionally well prepared. I'm a picky diner when it comes to Italian food: I want fresh ingredients, al dente pasta and please don't serve it swimming in sauce. We chose the papardelle with proscuitto, peas and porcini in a light garlic and oil sa... read more
Terrible – My boyfriend & I had 8PM reservations to which we arrived at the restaurant at 7:15, and then proceeded to wait until 8:45 to actually get seated. The hostess not only sat another couple that walked in off the street before us, but made no apology about it when it was brought to her attention. My boyfriend spoke with the owner, who according to him has been in the business for 19 years, but apparently knows nothing about customer service. It took me yelling at the hostess and threatening to cause a scene for us to... read more
Great North End Find – We were visiting Boston for our anniversary and decided on the North End for dinner. What a find in Dolce Vita. The owner greeted us immediately and when we were undecided he asked us what we like and created our meals for us. The Bruchetta was a great appetizer and our meals wonderful, along with the recommended wine. The atmosphere was perfect for our celebration and we felt like we were dining at our family's home--so comfortable. We'll be visiting again soon.
Awful value for the North End – Everything about this meal was at best average. The seats weren't comfortable, the ambience supposedly festive but ended up just being noisy. Worst, the "special" risotto they served me was revolting AND they charged me $28.95 for it. My date's food was also average at best (and it shouldn't have been, at $22.95). The appetizers were nothing special either - the $12.95 cheese plate was just average parmesan cheese slapped on a plate with a spinach leaf or two. La Dolce Vita was an unfortunate ... read more
