So disappointed with the team at this hotel. Had a client of ours stay there who had a terrible experience. I ordered a bottle of wine to be delivered to the room as a nice surprise. After 5 phone calls over 24 hours, a few promises - nothing. A bottle of wine! How you do one thing, is how you do everything. Would not recommend.
Not at this point as we cannot get a reply from Bree, the manager. She ignores our emails.
I went to the spa on Monday for a facial and mani/pedi. It's now Friday. My manicure is chipping and the "statement nails" look like a child drew them on unevenly. My chin has broken out in small bumps. (I'm over 50 so it's not acne; I usually have a facial every 2 months so not sensitive skin.) Although the staff was very nice, I am very disappointed!
Definitely perfect for a romantic weekend or a wedding.
RecommendedWe are staying at Kona Kai for our 2nd visit. We made customer of the weekend and were upgraded to a suite with a Bayview and a bottle of wine. We love the staff here everybody is so Courteous and helpful!!! This is our number one new place to hang out shelter island San Diego on the Bay. Lynn Kline
Service from the front desk restaurant hosts, bartender and valet was friendly and helpful! Thank you Alyssa, Sean and Danny especially.... keep doing what you’re doing! We appreciate you! We upgraded to the suite which was spacious, clean, comfortable and had a amazing view! Beautiful grounds and amenities. So happy we picked Kona Kai for our mini vacation in San Diego. We will definitely be back!
TERRIBLE is an understatement. If you're 99 and looking for people your age to play bingo with, this might be the place for you. AS A PAST MEMBER, I found the services to be atrocious, EXTREMELY overpriced and not very guest friendly to say the least. I'd rate this place with 0 stars if I were able too. Tons of rules and guidelines to follow which are hyper enforced, so be ready to fall in line. Ambiance and hotel service is exceptional. Dining is adequate. Not the best-ever food but totally sufficient. Music in the restaurant is way too loud for any reasonable conversation. Wait staff didn’t meet the standard of the food. When I ask if there is a good Pinot noir, I don’t expect the server to have to ask the bartender. And when I ask the bartender what scotch she has, the dazed look isn’t encouraging. Gym and pool/beach (with fire pits) was very good, room was nice. Location was amazing.
