Avoid if you don't want a bum's rush – Friday november 18, 2011. I was in a party of eight. Reservations at 6PM. Service was rushed. Food very good. Did I mention the service was rushed? At 7:15 PM the manager, "C J" (refused yo give his last name), asked us to leave as they had another party waiting! Wow, a bit overbooked? No offer of anything - we didn't even have time for dessert or coffee. In fact, when he told us we needed to vacate our table he didn't even offer an alternative when we told him we had not dessert or cof... read more

Great creole restaurant in San Mateo My wife and I went here Saturday night for dinner before going to the movies down the street. We'd been several years earlier but this was the first time back trying out the new chef. Definitely had a nice time and enjoyed the food and ambiance. We sat upstairs where it was busy but private enough for good conversation. Ordered a bunch of different things and shared. Small caesar salad was big enough for us to split. We each had a "cup" of the crab n' beer soup which is actually bowl size... read more

A taste of New Orleans My brother went to Tulane and though I only went to visit once, the food made a lasting impression. I'm not talented or inspired enough to make my own beignets and it's not like Krispy Kreme carries them, so I love indulging here. But don't forget to try the bread pudding, which is awesome. The menu is large, so even the pickiest eaters in your group will find something. Last time here, I had the skirt steak and while it's not a unique menu item, they do it well. Of course, after a few Hurricanes, who ... read more

Drink like a fish Their catch phrase is to "eat like a king, drink like a fish" and maybe the food is good if you are drinking. I don't drink and found the food to be uninteresting and not worth the money. I also got the signature beignets dessert and was disappointed by it as well. Nowhere near the quality and taste of Cafe du Monde's beignets in Atlanta or New Orleans, but then again, what is?

Great San Mateo institution – Decent place to go once a year, but food not good enough to make me a regular. It is close to the movie theater though, so a good option for before/after the movies.

Great drinks, not the best food. – I have tried so hard to like Kingfish and after the last time I went there I don't think I'll go back to eat again. The drinks are GREAT, I have never had a bad drink from there but the food is just... ok. I have ordered a variety of things and nothing has been that great or anything I'm dying to taste again. Last time we went the fish was undercooked and they ended up not charging us for the meal which was nice but I think I'd rather go to the pizza place around the corner than Kingfish. B... read more

New Orleans style cuisine This place was actually just redone and it looks amazing inside, the bar is kind of hidden though. But their dishes are amazing they just take you through the new orleans style. With cajun and seafoods. Its amazing, I loved it there, they do have oysters and some nights live music but make sure you get there early on a friday or saturday night because they will be packed.

succulent steak and lobster – + prime rib; i was starving by the time we went out for a late company lunch; i ordered a medium rare for the prime rib. for the life of me, i couldn't figure out why i wasn't scarfing this dish down. my co-worker kindly pointed out that they provided me with a well done steak. the waiter was kind enough to quickly remedy the problem and i was downing their succulent steak in no time. + lobster (uber, fantabulous!) i was nicely treated to a bit of lobster while awaiting my new and improved steak... read more
