He spends time with you and answers questions honestly. He said that TKR would not be easy and would take several months to really feel happy about going thru the procedure and physical therapy afterwards. It took me almost 3 years to finally wrap my mind around getting my knee replaced, and he understood and continued to give cortisone shots to keep me being as active as I could be.
Husband had knee replacement surgery on Thursday (3/27/25) - no one called to check up on him. He called on Monday and they apologized for not reaching out. Later in the week husband called to speak to Dr Owsley about concerns about bruising and he didn’t return the call until the next day. Dr said he was calling in a prescription that never showed up at our pharmacy. Now it’s the weekend - no prescription. Called office and they are closed all weekend. Hip replacement surgery. Everything was well planned, I knew what to expect and I feel so much better. He is an excellent surgeon and person, very kind, patient and knowledgeable.
Dr. Owsley listened and answered my questions and concerns without hesitation.
Again, a great doctor, will engage in conversation with you, did a great job on my crummy warn out knee and gave me a new one that works great and a straight leg
I've had both knees replaced by Dr. Owsley and each occasion has been very successful. There's always concern before any surgery, so I did my best to prepare by doing 'pre-hab' PT with Dr. Owsley's blessing. My first surgery went so well that I was confident that the second would be just as good. I waited 3 years and decided it was time, especially since I have a good knee to depend on and help my recovery. Dr. Owsley listened and addressed all my concerns. Easy to talk to. Truly cared about my recovery.
I was thoroughly informed as to the surgical procedure, pre-op, post-op and recovery.
My visit has been fine, but the Poway office did not submit to my insurance a PT consultation visit, so I have not had PT for 1 month because of this mistake.
