Dr Berend was a pleasant surprise. He totally listened to me and put my mind at ease regarding my upcoming surgery. I have complete trust that my outcome will be fine!!!
Dr Berend did my right hip surgery several years ago and I just scheduled the left hip replacement. I got along wonderfully before and am confident it will go well this time also.
I was a patient of his eight years ago for a partial knee replacement, and I felt like he did a good job. Practice has been sold, it’s part of a larger corporate group, and he no longer accepts Medicare. Get ready to write a check for $5000 if you want him to do your knee replacement.
Dr. Berend was very knowledgeable and took time to answer all my questions. Looking forward to improved mobility and strength with the help of Dr. Berend and the JIS group!
Dr Berend was straight forward in his approach and attentive to my needs. He confirmed I needed a left total hip replacement and scheduled me on the spot. Reading the other comments, I'm a bit confused. I don't need my surgeon to be my best friend, I need him to replace my hip. Dr Berend is a wizard! I was off my walker and on a cane in 6 days, off the pain meds in 4 days, and driving in 10 days. He replaced my hip in 2012 in New Albany and the device suffered a catastrophic failure in 2022, with no identifiable cause. I was in agony! I called his office and was told that they couldn't offer any assistance and that any and all records of my surgery had been destroyed after 7 years. Who does that? I didn't even get a "sorry for your pain". It was clear to me they didn't want anything to do with me... I really don't like giving negative reviews, but future patients should be aware that their records are not maintained ... read more
Dr. Berend replaced my knees and hips in 2006-07. They were very successful and have not given me any discomfort. I’ve recommended him to several of my friends.
I had a left hip replacement at age 62, and have been a lifelong off-road motorcycle racer. I really grilled Dr. Berend prior to surgery about being able to ride and race after the hip implant surgery. He said that my results will be in direct proportion to the effort I put into the Physical Therapy phase. I took his word for it and went all out in PT and kept asking for more weeks, even after they told me I was OK to release. Everything he told me came true. Dr. Berend is an excellent doctor! Takes time to explain everything! Caring and compassionate! You will be very very pleased that you chose Dr Berend as your doctor! I was to numerous Orthopeadist before I found him and one even said I was too fat, and he’d have to cut my leg off if it didn’t heal properly. One dr at Cleveland clinic examined me and as he was leaving the room I noticed he “clanked” as he walked.
