The Old City neighborhood's Indian offering in the form of Karma doesn't disappoint. While the 'tandoor' fare is the mother of all comfort foods, Lamb Chettinad and Chicken Do Pyaaza are succulent albeit spicy. Vegetarians also have an array—Saag Paneer, Bend it like Karma, Navrattan Korma and more. Papadams and Raita as sidedishes compliment the meal perfectly. There's also an impressive list of wines (whites and reds).

For that real taste of India, try Karma. – With a mouth watering aroma, food that melts in your mouth, and a friendly staff, KARMA reminds one of backhome - INDIA. If you're looking for that real taste of INDIA, this is where you'll get it.
I certainly recommend Karma. – The food was delicious. The service was excellent. The whole staff was very courteous. I would love to visit again.
Karma does not go the route of the typical Indian restaurant: it is more lounge and bistro, and even when it offers typical Indian favorites, like Aloo Gobi (wittily called Bend it Like Karma), Chana Masala (called Chole Peshawari) and Butter Chicken (called Punjabi by Nature), it does so with a creative and fresh flair that renews ones conviction in the favorites. At the same time, the restaurant has a menu that presents lovely dishes not typically encountered in Indian restaurants, like the fantastic Moong Dal Halwa. Their... read more
Gr8 Food,Fabulous Decor &Exceptional Svc – We were quite pleased with Karma's exceptional food and service. The waiting staff is very friendly. But most of all, it was the unique decor and affordable menu that really caught our eye. The chef accomodated our party's different spice-based tastes by providing additional sauces. Oh yeah, make sure to look at the Dessert menu and try 'Karma Flan'. True to the management's proclamation, Karma is an experience not to be missed.
Great New Find – We went to Karma when we saw it listed in the Ritz bill. As soon as we walked in, the rust-red walls, dramatic drapes, tea lights on the tables, and spotless see-through kitchen impressed us. The restaurant has some vivid abstract art by local Philly artists on the walls, enlivening the place and adding a nice bohemian touch. Since it was a Sunday, there was a sumptuous lunch buffet. The chef of Karma, Dominic was most recently head chef of Le Meridien, Delhi. We found this out from the affable and warm owne... read more
Best Indian Food in Philly – Philly finally has what it has been missing for the last several years - a great Indian resteraunt with excellent food, a great ambience and the best service ever. Karma has an extensive wine list, mouth watering Indian appetizers and some very good entrees. I especially recommend the Lamb Korma and the Butter Chicken. Keep it up!
Northern Indian cuisine that'll make you feel like a Bollywood star. – The Scene The restaurants on this block of Old City change so rapidly, it's tough to make a reservation, let alone a recommendation. Shivnanda's interior is a pleasant mix of Eastern and Western accents, with fresh orchids on each table and plenty of mirrors to give the twinkling dining room a sense of infinite depth. The Food The menu, however, goes to great lengths to detail exactly what goes into these Northern Indian dishes, and even has a section exp... read more
Best Indian food in Philly – Hands down, the best Indian food in Philly. It's a little more expensive than most Indian restaurants, but it's also much better (and still very reasonably priced)! The chicken vindaloo is excellent (and they'll make it as spicey as you want). And the samosas are fantastic!
YUMMY lamb! – This place is nestled right near Brasil's and we actually walked right by it the first time (my boyfriend had seen a good review)... it was AWESOME! I live in NYC and love it when we find great places in Philly as well. I ordered chicken curry which was good, but my boyfriend's lamb dish (not curry but I can't remember the other typical style right now) was UNBELIEVABLE. The service was good and it wasn't too crowded for a Friday night. Go now!
