I'm extremely thankful to have been able to find someone as skilled & knowledgeable as Dr. Karas. After a failed surgery elsewhere & left with poor prognosis & no solutions, Dr. Karas made sure I knew both the +'s & -'s of moving forward with a more difficult & uncommon repair procedure opting with Physical Therapy as a first choice & step. Ultimately getting the revision surgery 7 months ago, I can now say I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome both aesthetically and physically!
Dr. Karas and his team were great before, during, and after my rotator cuff surgical procedure. They displayed technical excellence and a personal touch, taking the time to fully answer questions and explain things in an understandable way. I found it impressive that the Atlanta Falcons and other sports teams have chosen Dr. Karas to care for their players. I am 4 1/2 months post surgery and my shoulder feels great!
Dr. Karas was the surgeon for my right shoulder replacement in about 2010. I was in PT for a long time after. I could not raise my arm except from the elbow down. I was told I wasn't doing enough PT. Even after several months the pain was much worse than before the surgery and it continues to this day. I went to Johns Hopkins for an evaluation and they discovered that a bone had gone through a tendon causing severe inflammation and pain. Believe your body when it tells you something is wrong.
I've enjoyed having Dr. Karas as my orthopedist for my rotator cuff injury. While I initially didn't care for his bedside manner and found him rather gruff, I grew to appreciate his candor, knowledge and skills related to the diagnosis, surgical repair and follow-up care. I am 6 months out of surgery from a 3-ligament tear and ahead of schedule with my recovery. I would highly recommend him for for this type of injury (or any injury of the shoulder).
Dr. Karas is amazing. He was referred to me by a friend and I could not be happier with the outcome. He's attentive, professional, and shows that he truly cares about his patients and their well-being. I have confidence in him as well as his knowledge and talent that my arm will be back to how it was before the break in no time, with only a small scar to show for it.
Dr. Karas is a wonderful doctor! He listened to my concerns and carefully explained the procedure and risks. He is very realistic about what to expect during recovery, and his staff takes great care of you! I had a hook plate and 5 screws placed in November, and underwent a second surgery a week ago for hardware removal. Was not expecting such a quick recovery after a second surgery! Will only recommend him for family/ friend with shoulder/ knee surgery in the future.
Dr Karas is a wonderful Doctor, very competent and really a good person. He has made my shoulder pain free!
