I DON'T THINK SO – I dont think you brought your taste buds that night. I have been a patron of Kanki for over 4 years. I have had sushi up and down the Eastern part of the United States and I can honestly say that the sushi at Kanki is the best. Thanks for letting me share, Micwolf
Absolute worst – Kanki does the hibachi grilling to perfections - but their sushi is awful. The rolls have a weird flavor (sort of like soap) and the rice is so thick and overdone that was all I could taste - NOT the delicate taste of the fish. I do NOT recommend Kanki for sushi - stick to their grilled / tappan (sp?) entrees instead
Want to Take-out Food, Better Like Sushi – The Raleigh area Kanki restaurants do not do take-out on anything except sushi. Don't be disappointed like I was. If you want take-out go elsewhere.
Great experience! – I am reviewing the Kanki on Mt. Moriah in Durham. My first impression proved to be right on: the place was beautifully decorated, and it had a romantic feel to it. We sat at a table in the sushi bar which was also nice. I have been a sushi lover for years and must admit to still being a little leery of nigiri sushi or sashimi: never again. We ordered a few maki and 2 different nigiri: it was the freshest sushi Ive ever had including restaurants from San Francisco to San Diego. I cant speak for the grilled... read more
Good for groups – I like this place to take a group of friends. The service is great and the chefs are funny.
A Great Place to Celebrate – The Kanki is a terrific place to celebrate a birthday or graduation. Though you usually have to wait a long time for a table (sometimes over an hour) the service and food make up for it. All of the Hibachi dishes are great. It is also very pricey (minimum costs = $9.00).
Great spot for lunch! – This past week I have had lunch at Kanki 2 times in the past month now! It is a great spot to grab a bite to eat. The first time we sat and had the hibachi and the second the sushi bar. Both were wonderful and the prices at lunch are a steal. You get the same sixed portions! I would recmmened this for a casual lunch or a business lunch anytime!
