Wow,Yum, Fun – Myself and my husband, our friends and our family frequently venture a trip to Kanki the atmosphere is great, the view and decor are attractive and interesting. The sushi bar by far is the best. The chefs are funny and interactive putting a show almost as good as the dinner tables.
Not for sushi – Almost edible. "Daijoobu" if you get my drift. go there for steak-house theatrics if you'd like. Too often the fish is not at all fresh.
Best Quality Around – Kanki has the best quality sushi in Raleigh/Cary by far. The fish is always fresh and the preperation is quality also. For instance - most sushi places in this area put sesame seeds on the outside of their rolls - yuck. Kanki puts rowe on the outside. The fish never tastes stale or waxy like at some places. The sushi staff is very friendly - and Japanese - and takes the time to talk to you and help you with your choices. Kanki is the best choice if you are looking for quality food (eat in or take-out). ... read more
I will NEVER return – I ordered the sashimi platter, and i thought that the fish was old and of poor quality-- i couldn't even eat it. it even smelled fishy-- a real sushi restruant would be embarrased to serve such filth. do yourself a favor, and go elsewhere.
Great food & great chefs – The sushi at Kanki is ot only the best we have had in the Triangle since movinghere one year ago (and we have tried every place in town) but the chefs actually take the time to talk with you, see what you like, even make you special dishes without asking- what a surprise. Oh, and no charge either. Many of the other places in town are rather snobby when it comes to talking with the people sitting at the sushi bar- not at Kanki. There is never a question of WHERE to go but how often!
The Chuck E. Cheese of Fine Dining – Wow... I can't believe anyone would consider this a decent restaurant. But I guess if you want a night out and a form of dining combined with entertainment that will keep your ADHD diagnosed children quite even when they miss their daily dose of Aderol then this may be the restaurant for you. The food is poor, the clientele is suspect and the performance is adequate.
Great Sushi – The Sushi here is the best I have had. Quite a shock since I am from California. Review is for the Sushi Bar only. I wasn't too impressed with the food/service in the main dining area and have eaten there 3-4 times.
Not as good as Kabuki's in Cary – A far cry from being one of the city's best. Give me a drive thru order before going here again. I tried all locations and neither of them have left me with the thought of returning. Slow service, below average food quality and the Sushi was nothing to rave about. Go see Sing at Kabuki's, he knows Sushi and service...
Kabuki instead – For those who had bad experiences at Kanki, try Kabuki Japanese Steak House in Cary. They have much better food and show. I have never gone back to Kanki after I had kabuki.
