Good Food can always be expected – Well I have lived in the triangle for almost 23 years now and Kanki still remains one of my favorites. The food is obviously always fresh (as it is cooked from raw) and it is prepared effortlessly by great Kabuki chefs. Unless you go for lunch, that is when they set the trainees loose. But the food is still good then, it's just all over the table. I love their ginger sauce, it is the best of any Japanese steakhouse I have ever been to. The Sushi is really great. Have a sit down at the sushi... read more

Best sushi! – I love sushi, and have eaten at almost all of the sushi restaurants in town, but I keep coming back to Kanki! They have a sometimes overwhelming selection of rolls, but most all of them are delicious, and I like that most are also served in 1/2 portions, so one can try something new without having to buy an entire roll. The sushi chefs are alwys friendly as well. Mmmm..I might just have to eat there tonight!!

User review by fdgrl – I went with friends on a Saturday night, and was extremely disappointed. When I ordered a California roll, the server told me it would take at least 45 minutes to make them. He then told me I should get something from the hibachi menu. I figured since my sushi was only $5 and the hibachi is easily $10, that he was trying to have a bigger bill. When my sushi arrived (20 minutes later), it was a cucumber roll, and he insisted that I ordered that instead of a California roll. He wouldn't take it back, so ... read more

Sushi-only Review – Despite having been there multiple times, I always fill up on sushi. I've seen some surprising negative reviews of their sushi, and I've had just the opposite experience. Probably the best tempura-style maki rolls in town, and their traditional rolls aren't anything to complain about either. The service isn't the greatest unfortunately... but sometimes you make sacrifices for good food.

The best sushi! – I have only been to the sushi bar, I have not had the hibachi. The sushi was the best eel sushi I have ever had! The miso was outstanding and the vegetable tempura was excellent! The service was quicker the first time I went, but it was fairly pprompt both times. I hope to try the hibachi food next time I go.

Fun Date - although not intimate setting – This was a fun date night! All the tables are close together in one big open room...so you can see everyone. And you're seated at a table of 8 along with strangers. It would be a fun place to go with a group of 8! The food was delicious!!! Our chef was very entertaining & very impressive!!! There were several kids at the restaurant - I was surprised - but they must really enjoy the "show." Waitress service wasn't the best, but it was ok. Definitely not an intimate setting, but it ma... read more

Great – Never eaten here at dinner, too expensive for me. Lunch is a great deal with a decent show too. Traditional japanese styling and dress adorn the restaurant with rooms for more private dining or groups.

Kanki is fun for large groups, but if you want to have a more intimate evening there is no privacy since you are seated at a table with 6 to 8 strangers. Plus, you don't get to choose who you sit with, there is always the chance of sitting at a table with some loud dumb-ass. Fun for a first date, and if the surrounding people keep to themselves or aren't too annoying it can be great.

Good food, Bad service – I think that the food served at the tables is very good and extremely filling. The sushi bar has pretty good sushi, but not excellent. I have been to much better sushi places than this before. I think if you are looking for good japanese food--go here, but for sushi--try somewhere else. Also, the sushi and hibachi chefs are great--nice, entertaining and funny. But the waitresses are HORRIBLE. If you want good service--or even just another glass of water--DO NOT go here!
