CLOSED FOR THE SEASON, Thank you for another great summer! An Outer Banks tradition, John's has been a favorite with locals and vacationers since 1977! Serving Fresh Tuna and Fried Dolphin served with homemade tartar sauce or fresh made cocktail sauce. Also available many flavor of malt, fresh fruit milkshake and other tasty ice cream treats. John's gives free ice cream to dogs, horses, rabbits, skunks and any other type of pet that you would bring to John's would earn you a "puppy cup."

The dolphin boat is an OBX classic. Crispy battered dolphins planks with hush puppies and your choice of one side. And get a milkshake if you want to be really traditional. OMG so good!

Shout out to Johns and the new owner! Arrived a little before 830 to be told that there was an equipment malfunction and they were doing milkshakes only 😞 This left us heart broken (we have tried to eat here 3 summers in a row) and also questioning where we would eat dinner as most places close at 9. Spoke to the new owner and he pulled through by firing the fryers back up and feeding our hungry family! In the end the food was on point, the dolphin boat was delicious but the tartar sauce knocked it out of the park!! Thanks ... read more
They have the cutest places on the back to eat with the sea breeze coming from the ocean 🌊 definitely will be back next summer and then after that!!
