This is the only commercial airport in Orange County, situated 35 miles to the south of Los Angeles. It has two runways and parking space for over 7,500 vehicles. Over nine million passengers avail of its services each year, and over 20,000 tons of air cargo is handled here. Three commuter, 11 commercial and two all-cargo airlines operate from the airport too.

I have been flying into John Wayne for years since I moved to Texas. I love this airport!!!
SNA is my go-to airport when flying in to the LA area, where LAX seems to be overcrowded.

Compared to LAX, this airport is a pleasure! Rental car pickup is just across from the arrival terminal & a breeze to get through and on your way. Much cleaner than LAX as well. Other than if I need a direct flight from my current hometown to Southern California, I cannot foresee ever using LAX again over JWA. Hopefully in the future, there may be direct flights to eastern Pennsylvania.
It's a very nice looking airport. The security lines are decent, but the terminal design is awful. When the gate live start lining up, 2 boarding zones before they should, they totally block the walkways. The airport should really have been about 10-15ft wider!
