I was aware of the previous bad reviews of this company but was assured by the local Jeld-wen Representative and my builder that through many business acquisitions they had improved the product. Last fall (2017) I had 14 new windows installed in a remodel and several more sash replacements installed where necessary. With the warmer weather (May 2018) I have opened the windows and the weather-stripping on most of them is falling off. Bought and installed some beautiful real copper clad casement windows - unbelievably beautiful - and promptly lost the crank and locking hardware! Emailed them with the problem and they call me back within a couple days and shipped out the replacement pieces. No Charge! I couldn't be happier with the quality of the window or the customer support.
The customer service of this company is beyond horrible. My case was started back in August of 2017 and I am still trying to resolved it (April 2018). There is no urgency even though I have windows leaking both water and air that won't close properly. I had to wait 4 months for the windows to be manufactured even though I was told it would be 4-6 weeks. There were some problems and delays regarding the French doors we ordered from Jeld-Wen through *****, but we definitely give both Jeld-Wen and ***** kudos and appreciation for being honorable and making amends without us having to make any fuss or demands, which to us is a true sign of integrity for both of these entities. Unexpected and unintentional things can happen... but they both made sure we were leaving the situation behind with a sense of having confidence in doing business with both companies again.
I am extremely unhappy with the Jeld-Wen French door that was installed in my dining room last summer in Sacramento CA. I had 5 Jeld-Wen windows installed. The Southgate glass store in Carmichael representative walked the entire perimeter of my home - measuring all of the openings. The door was recommended because Jeld-Wen is supposed to stand by their products. The door was defective and leaked on the side and underneath. i order a ext door from the lake orion store in mi . This has been on of the worst experiences i have ever had . I purchased a jeld door thru home depot 10/03/2016 . The door warped with in first year so it was covered under warranty so we called they sent some on out to the house to look at it . They said the sidelights went bad and as for the door being warped that was the installer (which were hired thru home depot as well). Stay away from this company. French doors with massive gaps at top and bottom due to poor design. 2+ months trying to get warranty work. Going to have to pull the doors out and return to Lowes.
I ordered almost 30 replacement wooden windows from this company through Home Hardware. 50% of them required warranty repair work. It was very time consuming to get through to service normally requiring multiple attempts. In the end, although they addressed most of the warranty work (they missed on and offered to still fix it but I was so fed up I gave up), my project cost was increased by thousands of dollars and delayed 6 months. They are horrible! I ordered custom French doors in Oct of 2017 were not installed until Jan 2018 and everything is WRONG! Door locks bored incorrect almost 3 inches different, screens cannot latch gap opening and slide off doors, wrong hinges sent, and primary doors sticks out uneven. I was told on same day as installation I had to file a warranty claim!?. While the installers were still here.
