About this business

Not quite the oldest dining establishment in Albany, but one of the oldest, Jack's Oyster House has been serving patrons since 1913. It has remained in the same family since its inception as well, from grandpa to grandson, the kitchen has always been busy with the Rosenstein family. Its classic steak/seafood menu and proximity to the Capital Building make it a popular lunch and dinner spot for the city's politicians and power-elites. Unparalleled service. Great food. Reasonable pricing for such a traditional steak house.

Over priced. Seafood chowder was great, but steak undercooked for both myself and my wife, and nothing special, and no choice for salad dressing, and salad was basically lettuce and finely sliced carrots. Can't recommend restaurant or the prices. It's a shame, Jacks used to be great.

Our sympathies on the passing of Arnold Rosenstein, who, for multiple generations, assured the very highest quality of culinary excellence. Patrons are fortunate that this outstanding restaurant continues under the stewardship of his son, Brad, who continues this tradition of quality this family has brought to the Capital Region.

Jack's used to be great but has consistently gone downhill for the past few years. Last time there was a few months ago, and the service and food were absolutely dismal.

My dad has been going to Jack's for many years, and always raves about how great it is. My husband and I finally made it. Dinner was delicious and the service was top notch. The atmosphere was perfect.
