History The Jaarsma Bakery in Pella, Iowa has been offering delicious "Dutch Treats" since 1889, when it was founded by Harmon Jaarsma who used recipes he brought over as an immigrant from Holland. A hundred years ago, Harmon had two brick ovens in the bakery that were fired with wood. I ordered Dutch letters for a Christmas gift for my stepdad and Jaarsma Bakery had suggested in a previous Facebook post to have the delivery date for no later than the 2nd week of December to make sure you’d have them in time for Christmas. Knowing my stepdad would be okay with if he didn’t get them right on Christmas, I had a delivery (to me so I could wrap them) date of the week before Christmas and hoped I’d have them (but wouldn’t have been disappointed if I didn’t). Every time we drive to Pella, we stop at Jaarsma Bakery! It’s an hour drive, but so worth it! Love everything in the bakery. I highly recommend it.

Since we moved to Iowa we have heard non stop about this bakery. We finally made it over and went twice in one week! everything we have tried is superb. The prices are amazing! I could not believe how great the prices are! The one place my kids go where they can pick out almost anything. The service is always good as well. We will be back again soon!
